You are talking as if the kings are a rational actor….they are not. If they were, they wouldn’t have given sabonis that asinine contract (or even made the asinine trade for him), and they would’ve already traded fox since you know you are going nowhere with him.
I get the negativity around Fox dude to his poor 3pt shooting but I don't think people give him enough credit for his shooting otherwise, .755 at the rim, .552 3-10ft , .522 10-16ft, .396 16-<3p. with the vast majority of those shots self created. 60% of Fox's shots come between the rim and 16 feet - and he shoots .594 on those with 71.2% of those unassisted. Booker on the other hand - .605 at the rim, ,412 3-10ft, .499 10-16 and .475 16-<3p with a much higher assisted rate. Half his shots at the rim are assisted and 76.2% of his 3 point shots are assisted - those assisted numbers are literally flipped. They are polar opposite players, one an offensive engine, the other playing off of others. My main point on Booker is that he really isn't that star most think he is when you dig into the numbers - he's paid as a #1 star, a supermax. Most believe he's a great shooter, he really isn't - he has had ONE season where he shot better than league average (for all players, not just shooting guards who are generally better than league average) from 3pt land in his career. He's #138 out of 172 among qualified players as a 3 point shooter this season and that's supposed to be the strength of his game?! There are several reasons not to want Fox, starting with the 3 point shooting and then the contract issues but analyzing Booker's numbers - I can't pay that guy a supermax. I don't know that I'd want him on a 25% in the current state of the CBA with apron levels and their penalties, not to mention the assets required to acquire him .... He's a good complimentary player to your established stars, not a supermax guy. The reason I like the idea of Fox is that he's just what this team lacks - a guy you can give the ball to and he goes and gets a bucket - even if he isn't a good 3 point shooter. Fox, XXX, Brooks, Jabari & Sengun can work if that XXX is a competent shooter.
Good trade for Rockets and Heat…. But absolutely sucks for Sactown lol. Never happening. They’re not giving away fox for free.
This is a great post. Fox should near the target and we really should be trying to get him in the next few weeks. The value of an postseason together is huge. To Miami FVV Top 15 protected pick future first Tate To Sac Jalen Green Landale 2025 Suns FRP Future First Jeff Green Holiday To Houston Butler Fox Robinson Sengun/Adams Smith/Robinson Brooks/Eason Butler/Reed Fox/Amen
.320% from 3 but .584 from 2 .... 69% of his shots come from 2. eFG% 53.6 FVV shooting .270 from 3 and .446 from 2 ..... 56% of his shots come from 3. eFG% 46.5 And for those who continue to pine for Booker ..... .343 from 3, .493 from 2 with 41% of his shots coming from 3. eFG %50.2 To be a star in this league, you have to do something very well - only one of these cats fits that description.
Does Devin Booker even care about winning anymore? Suns aren’t even a play-in team, and here he is smiling and yucking it up after yet another embarrassing loss
I think a big difference between Booker and Fox is Fox is a creator while Booker is a play finisher. Rox need 3 pt shooting, but more importantly they need playmaking. Booker is a much better shooter than Fox and willing to do the dirty work to win, but he isnt a playmaker. In fact PHX offense last year was horrible cuz they didnt have a pg. Btw Sac hasnt lost yet since Brown got fired. Fox is making a point..
My point isn't weither Fox is a good NBA player or not. He is an upgrade over Jalen and if we can just swap them I would in a heartbeat. The problem is we already lack perimeter shooting and it will give defenses yet another reason to clog the paint making Sengun even less effective. If the guys around Fox suddenly start figuring out how to not be at the bottom of the league in 3 point % then yes Fox is fine, but they wont. I also don't pine for Booker and there is nowhere on this forum that will reflect that. My concern is if we do go after Fox what we will give up to get him. Jalen would have to be one and I am happy, but who else?
Unfortua FVV and a Rockets future Frp would be better. Fox is a rental unless he learns to hit 3 pointers, otherwise he is not worth one of our 2 max contracts under the new rules. Jalen would be all but impossible to trade for Fox in-season.
If Fox was a better playmaker, then the numbers would show that. Book is averaging more assists and fewer turnovers than Fox. Not just this season, last year too. Booker is the shooting guard in Phoenix like Harden was the shooting guard on those Pat Beverly Rockets teams. He's definitely a creator, not just a finisher. TS% also is in Book's favor vs. Fox for their careers. Much of that is because Booker shoots like 90% from the line and Fox is more of a 75% guy. That adds up with guys who get to the line a lot.
The idea isn't to replace Green with Fox but Fox to replace FVV ..... he has no future here beyond seasons end and you need to use his salary to acquire his replacement. Otherwise, you are slightly under the cap with few options ~$15m cap space or MLE? to replace a starter? You can move Green in the offseason when he becomes easier to trade.
Amen + Fox + Alperen does not do it for me in terms of spacing. I’d rather just clear out Fred and give all the usage to Amen and Alperen with shooters.
You mean like how Reed Sheppard had 4 asts in college? Booker gets assists because he is a connective passer. It doesnt mean he is a playmaker and tbh if you have someone like Booker you want him to be scoring and not creating. If Booker was the James Harden of Suns why did they even get Tyus Jones? They should have gotten another wing or a pg 3nD like PatBev.
Didn't Fox get his HC fired, for publicly noting that Fox had defensive lapses? Fox might not be a good fit for Ime.
Ok forget Fox lets trade for Keon Ellis instead. Reed Sheppard for Keon Ellis getirdone Morey errr Stone.
