If OKC wins the championship, what in the world does Presti do with four 1st round picks next summer (especially if Chet returns healthy next month)?

They don't have any holes on their roster and they don't need any more young players.

In all seriousness, I have some ideas but just wow!

They will likely offload 2-3 of the 2025 picks. Let’s see how much value they get back.

with 4 picks in 2025, it’s really not ideal. Hurts leverage when teams know you can’t keep all your picks.

Arguably, they have developed their core in such a way that they really don’t need a consolidation trade either. Edit: forgot about them being interested in Cam Thomas. Great way for him to get out of 2-3 of those picks

Going to be very interesting watching Presti navigate this.

I think you try and trade back to later years, or make a consolidation trade to move up. OR just use them on players 12-15.
They only have 13 players contracted for next year, so if they move just 2 of the picks they can use the other 2.

I would also be willing to bet that they don't get Utah's pick (top 10 protected), so essentially they have 3 picks.

It's going to be hard to pay all their players so having these future draft picks is going to be useful. They definitely have to consolidate these years pick. Hell they have Topic waiting in the background as well.

    • Dieng is out.
    • I think Isaiah Joe is out if they find shooters.
    • Dillon Jones has to pan out quickly or else he is gone.
    • Caruso I don't see as a long term thing even with his contract.
    • They have to negotiate harder with Hartenstein on his next deal though in about 2 years.
    • I would prioritize Cason Wallace because I think he is a freaking beast.....and keep Aaron Wiggins on a friendly deal, he has clutch genes. Ajay Mitchell is a great ready player as well.
    • Kenrich Williams aka Kenny Hustle is a better Uncle Green.

This is what building through the draft looks. People think building through the draft is about hitting on ever pick. Sometimes you don't hit on a Poku or Giddey or Dieng. You just keep picking until you get the good ones.

This new restrictive CBA really encourages building a homegrown squad.

I think they'll continue to draft just selectively push lower picks out to future years or use them to get role players on manageable contracts. Those will come in handy to keep their championship window open longer.

I hope the Rockets continue to take the homegrown approach and don't blow all our top tier picks on someone that will keep us a notch below contender status.

Presti is almost like MJ and LeBron used to be (back in the day) where he could deserve Executive of the Year almost every year.

I got flamed for saying he was leagues above Murray years ago. It was super obvious then that presti has the perfect balance between analytics and understanding the non quantifiable areas of the game

he’s a GOAT GM, what he has accomplished has been nothing short of insane

Even if he doesnt win a championship he already did the best any person could on paper...twice lol. Thats really all you can do its up to the players to win the game.

He is like Tom Brady of GMs as far as I'm concerned.
