The only thing he's figured out is how to continue to make his few remaining fans look like idiots, over and over and over.
I'm one. I'm skeptical of jalen, but celebrate his good games and even keep an open mind about his future. I want to see him without FVV and without insane rotations. Bobby earlier in this thread admitted he had a good game and didn't trash him at least in that post. But I don't classify Bobby as a skeptic. He is by far the most vocal critic of Jalen on this board. I really don't care about people being overly critical of Jalen as long as it is valid criticism and is not parroted over and over and over again.
Ok so you were talking about yourself when describing all skeptics. Makes sense. Yes of course, Bobby is a special case. You can imagine I know the Jalen threads better than you do. I assure you, we're not on a board where Green skeptics are complimentary of good games and critical of bad games. The average fan? Yes sure. But the skeptic, by definition, will almost always use the post to take a passive aggressive stab at minimum. Routine on the board, just go search any post bad game pages. You can re-read the last few pages of the Jalen Green thread and find myself and fchowd listing out everything Jalen needs to improve. I've been non-stop on Greens ass about his shot selection literally since the first game of the season although Udoka defended him. What are you so picky about? Do you need me to act out emotionally after a bad performance and blurt out some triggering BS for others so that you believe I believe it's a bad game? Toxic ****. You're actually criticizing me for being constructive. The irony. I think because we say "Jalen needs to do XYZ to improve" or "XYZ would help him" rather than just "what a garbage game", you think we're not acknowledging a bad game. Anyway, whatever it's your perception, your life. I like you bro but to be 100% honest with you this was a very dickish thing to say.
Dude, I think it is wasting someone's energy to divide the fan base into Jalen lover, Jalen enthuasist, Jalen neutral, Jalen skeptic, Jalen fierce critics, Jalen haters.....get a life, sorry. And go back and forth with a dude that has posted 7-9 Chapters about the player that is inconsistent as it gets....... I don't have the energy to do that and I want to be normal, thank you.
First off, if scoring 25pts is the barometer for a great game, then Jalen has had more than 1 great game. So your analogy is FLAWED
No one that knows basketball would set a random raw number of points scored as the basis of a great game.... but it makes sense you would think that'sshat was being said.
Actually, I don't think we have a true All - Star on the team at this point, not yet. Sengun only benefit defensively by playing with better defensive players. He is surrounded by defensive players, whereas Sabonis is surrounded by offensive players. However, looking at the numbers this yr, Saboins is more deserving of an All - Star vote. Saboins is 20ppg and 13 rbg, Sengun is 18ppg and 10rbg
I mistaken it for ACTUAL stats/ box scores, not a sites stats. I said it before, I go off of what I see. Like the game against Dallas, Jalen was the spearhead of 4-5 assist but if you look at the box score, he had 0 assist. Jackson Gatlin alluded to it too. That's why you have to take most stats with a grain of salt.
You mean like that time we were talking and I was telling you it's possible Brooks will improve his shooting to 38% and you said something like "lol sure a 27 year old will do that" and then he immediately did that - contrary to everything his historical patterns told you? Sometimes humans prove all the data wrong. This happens every second of every day in the world even if mathematically it's 0.01% of the time. Often, there are intangible or indirect signs it will happen. Some people are good at finding those signs. Some not so much - and those people will just accept being wrong every single time things are not perfectly linear.
Haha sure, everything is possible! You could hit on 20 and get 21, doesn't mean it's a good idea. This is totally different though, you weren't saying that Brooks WAS a good shooter, you said he COULD be. I have no issue with people saying Jalen WILL be good (even if i don't agree), but that's different from saying he is good now or has been good in the past.
I laughed because Jalen Green has been a roller coaster as a scorer. This has been a theme for years. So when someone starts a thread claiming he has figured it out - I am going to laugh at it - let’s wait for awhile. As for Reed Sheppard- he is a rookie and Jalen Green is in his fourth year. Green has proven he has a place in the league- the question is whether he is going to be a bench scorer or a star two guard. Sheppard hasn’t proven anything yet.
You see that's exactly what I mean. You're not even aware of the human part of it (context) and that's wrong even in the data world. Humans are not cards, and the most important part of that fact to this conversation is that humans show signs of free will and cards don't. For example, you're not going to hear that your ace of spades was in the gym all summer working on his flip. You're not going to hear that your 5 of spades became a 10 of spades in another dealer's hand. As for Jalen, I agree his stats are not good. I don't equate that to necessarily being a bad or non-useful player/asset/prospect. Maybe that's what the poster is trying to tell you, though I'm not sure, I didn't read all of it. For example, Sengun's offensive stats are down but I'm sure he's a better scorer than his stats reflect this season. In the Sengun example, the reason is because he's shot better before with the same team and there's a systemic scoring problem in the roster. So you have a player who's inherent skills have a higher capacity than their current production. To put that in simpler terms: you're not going to be surprised if Sengun steps up his offense. Happens a lot in the NBA.
Please READ what I wrote! I said MOST stats. That's why I think most people, including some GMs misjudge talent, because they go solely off of STATS. For example, fan favorite, Reed Sheppard. Most on this board wanted him, based solely off of his 3pt shooting stats. They compared him to Steph Curry. After looking at him, anyone could see he wasn't in the same stratosphere as Curry but more like a JJ Reddick, Jimmer Fredette type just by looking at play.
That's not related to what was being talked about. The comment i responded to only had to do with sengun and jalen's games THIS season that have already happened. There's no human element at that point, it's in the past.
This is a very straightforward but slightly flawed way of looking at it. It's actually favorable to Green. Even in Sengun's bad games, the offense can't function without him. Like it straight up doesn't work to a comical degree. If you replace Green with almost any other serviceable shooting guard, I don't think our record would be much different. If you took Sengun off the team and replaced him with a serviceable center....we'd be absolute trash.
