jalen’s problem is not a distribution of attempts, it is a skill problem. If you look at drives stats, you’ll see that he is not faring well there compared to other guards with similar usage. That is not surprising because all he has is quickness and that is not enough. He needs to improve, either 3 pt, mid range or getting to the rim. The 0-3 ft stat is misleading because it involves a lot of attempts other than drives to the rim.
yep not only does it say who is the issue, but who to replace him with https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/team/11/lineups#tab-four_factors https://www.nba.com/stats/lineups/a...610612745&dir=D&slug=advanced&sort=NET_RATING
Maybe it just means that Amen needs to start. It would be more convincing if you had the starting lineup on a different line. So how does everyone do when Amen is not in the game. It may lead to the same conclusion that Amen needs to replace Jalen, but you are leaving out the baseline.
this is just mostly BS tbh. He has significantly more than just quikness. Hes very shifty, has euros and the ability to finish with either hand off either foot for awkward finishes that most players cant achieve. To somehow discredit his 0-3ft finishing % because of "a lot of other than drives to the rim"?? brother what? Like what? Its not like he is some savant at cutting. Hes not getting putbacks. what is it? His lack of distribution is a correlation to this poorly spaced offense and his desire to shoot 3's. He does need to improve not either, but all imo, the 3pt mid range and getting to the rim(more frequently). Its very easy to criticize Jalen Green, you dont have to make shiit up to discredit him. Its so annoying how the conversation around Jalen is so disengenious.
Same stupid deductions that obviously ended up being Ime's flaws. For example, Horford, White, Tatum and Brown all shot worse from 3 under Ime. Tatum and Brown both shot worse on drives. It was obviously systemic, 4 out of your top 6 shooters will not forget to shoot over the summer. This then split into the following warring clans: - I told you Horford is over the hill - I told you Brown is fools gold - Paint is not packed, Tatum is just soft - Overpaid for White, his hot streak end of previous season must have been a scam Of course, it's the Tatum fans ******** on brown and brown fans ******** on white and white fans ******** on Horford. Tearing another player down to secretly defend your own. We started the season with Jabari, Cam, Jalen and FVV all struggling from 3. Only Jabari has recovered his season averages. Sengun has worked on his 3pt game 2 summers and there's no improvement in his %. Shepp can't shoot. Tari spiraled down to 32%. It's obviously systemic but that doesn't stop the maniacs from acting like it's only on the players they aren't fans of.
Also this is great for the long term careers of these guys. Ime is conditioning all our young guys by pushing them like this on defense. Eventually they will get used to it and then the team can reach true contender status. At this point we might just be waiting on our young guys to get the proper cardio conditioning under a Ime defensive system built up to where it doesn't effect their jumper. That might take 1 to 2 seasons. Eventually hopefully it will get there. What Ime did for Tatum and Brown has helped them the following seasons after Ime because that conditioning doesn't just leave you. Ask all time great two way players who had high usage efficient offense and busted their butts on defense and they will tell you the advantage they had was cardio conditioning over their peers. MJ, prime Kobe etc. These guys were ahead of their peers in cardio. That's why in the fourth these guys out of no where will do full court chase down blocks after playing 38 minutes of high usage offense and great defense.
Interesting, I had no idea this civil war went on in their fanbase. I thought you meant something completely different considering this is the Jalen thread. But yeah, this makes sense, it's a good comparison.
Yeah, that can't possibly be due to the fact that one of those lineups has a legit point guard and the other does not.
there was no discrediting. You suggested increasing his drives to the rim and also mentioned that his 0-3 ft percentage is good. I thought your reasoning was he is good near the rim so he should increase his drives. And that’s why I pointed out the drive stats which is the relevant stat. It doesn’t discredit anything. We just have different evaluation of the skills you mentioned. I’m he does euro steps and has some shiftiness but I don’t see them anywhere near the level of his quickness to make an impact. He has the athletic finish around the rim, which looks amazing when he can do it. here is the link to the drive stats if you’re interested. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/drives?CF=DRIVES*GE*9:GP*GE*20&dir=A&sort=DRIVE_FG_PCT Jalen is bottom tier in fg% and second to last in assists. Even if he kept his efficiency while driving more he would be one of the worst in that group. That’s why I say he needs to improve. Increasing drives won’t help him.
That's one way of looking at it. I'll see what I think of Jalen come April. If he improves his proficiency A LOT, and cuts down on the 3's like he did last game I might not be so ready to see him traded at the end of the year. I've definitely seen improvements in his defense, but nothing in his shooting proficiency. Nothing. That's not good. Shooting proficiency is my biggest gripe with Fred too. He takes too many damn 3 PT shots, and isn't great at penetrating and scoring, but his defense can't be denied. He's one of our better defensive players. Do I think he plays too many minutes? Yes! Do I think Jalen plays too many minutes? Yes. I don't care if we replace Fred with someone better at shooting any more than I do with Jalen. Do I want guys I never question playing too many minutes? Of course. I just don't want replacements to weaken our defense too much either. It's a fine balance, but right now our offense is way worse than our defense.
This is going to sound patronizing and it's meant to.. Have you ever done any sort of athletic competition that requires stamina and conditioning?
Yup. Poster is confused why Green's shooting efficiency hasn't improved on a team full of dudes underperforming shooting wise on a team with a coaching staff that probably has the highest standards in the entire league for expectations for minimum defensive energy spent and acknowledging Green's defensive improvement and effort. Hence why I question if they ever did any physically demanding activity for a 30= minute stretch that requires high level cardio conditioning.
Tonight might be tough to get to rim - his midrange looking good so far … shadowing him with Holiday and D White
