Yeah, Devin Carter is nice - he was 3rd on my board for the Rockets after Castle and then Reed....but worth noting Carter was doing that in the G league.
And his defensive numbers would be A LOT better That's why only idiots prop up compilation stats of high usage players who play a ton of minutes. Chuck enough and you'll eventually score
You and I both know that he has no business being in the G. But we also know why hes there. I'll even go as far as to say that if Carter were given the exact same opportunity as Sheppard, he will be playing dam near starters minutes come playoff time.
Trading a 3rd pick in his first season is career suicide - there is literally no good that can come of it for Stone. If he trades him, it appears he doesn't know what he is doing in the draft unless it's in a package for an all star player. Not trading him doesn't lower his value because as a rookie it's somewhat expected that the first couple of seasons could be bad. Plus, I don't think there is anything drastically new we learned about Reed that smart people who did their homework didn't already consider before the draft. He is small for NBA standards, learning a new position, he would struggle defensively with NBA speed, and he might have problems with longer more athletic defenders in the NBA. I think all of that is proven today - GMs including Stone likely were all aware of these limitations with Reed pre-draft. The only dummies who didn't know where casual fans (you know who you are - there were a lot of you on this board after the draft) who watched the highlights and thought he was going be Steph 2.0 out the gate. My point is - other teams aren't disappointed with Reed - it's going about how they would have thought. The people who are most disappointed are the ones who bought the unreasonable hype from the uninformed.
looking more and more like we are mismanaging him. have been lobbying for him to go to the g-league for about 20 games now.
I guaran-dam-tee you that Reed Sheppard will perform no where near as well as Carter is in the G league. You have been deceived.
I think G League performance can sometimes mean something. If you suck in G League, then you will probably suck in the NBA. However, I’m sure there are probably a few exceptions.
Sucking in the G league is a bad sign, doing well in the g league means nothing. It doesn't even mean you EVER belong in the NBA.
That's just silly. Reed, like Cam, will dominate in the G-league. Whether that means they will be ready for the NBA is still a question. I want Reed sent to the G-League so he can build his confidence. That really seems like the only meaningful outcomes from playing in that league.
What makes you think Sheppard will dominate in the GLeague? I think this is the reason he isnt being sent to the GLeague, if he sucks even in GLeague what little remains of his trade value will be gone. People have some irrational confidence on Sheppard when he hasnt shown any excellence apart from his first SL game.
