    I drive 3 ways:
    1. Like it's a rental,
    2. Like it's a lease
    3. Like it is the one I am paying to own.
Which one do you think I floor at every red light?

After looking into this more, it doesn't add up. There's no way an E-8 green beret makes a shittier explosive device than i would randomly make drunk on the 4th of July.

Also there's other weird things about it, like how he was shot in the face with a large caliber gun BEFORE the donation so positive ID is extremely difficult or impossible... and he had a 6 month old.

WTF is up with Vegas "incidents" being so sus?

If you don't floor a rental at a red light, you're not moving.

Only time I treat a rental as a legit car is when I'm driving in Europe.
And that is out of fear, not respect for the vehicle.

Yes, its very weird, when I heard he shot himself BEFORE the bomb went off I assume he had it in a timer? You drive all the way to Vegas to blow it up and you have a vehicle that can keep most of the explosion within the vehicle. From all accounts he supported trump and musk and it's almost like he did it at trump tower with a musk car so they would look into "his story"...............I don't get it, I am very glad the blast didn't kill anyone but kind of amateurish execution. I have a feeling there is way more to this....................domestic terrorists are a real thing, but 2 serviceman this close together, using the same type of car rental, is quite bizarre

Maybe it depends on the fine print of their liability insurance. I believe if a company's van, e.g., plows into a person and kills them, (involuntary manslaughter), the surviving family goes after the company's umbrella insurance policy and not so much the driver, who usually has little money of their own.

So if Turo provides the liability on a truck and that truck plows into 15 people, I assume the surviving families may seek compensation from whomever insured the vehicle. But I'm definitely no lawyer.

As a frequent pedestrian and walker of family doggo, this is one thing about the CT that I really like.

Why are you walking your dog? Are you too poor to drive them around in a CT?

Tesla Cybertruck Owner Straps a Gas-Powered Generator to the Truck Bed & Creates the First Hybrid Tesla, Takes 15 Gallons of Fuel to Charge to Full (18.7 MPG)

A Cybertruck owner was able to create the first hybrid Tesla by mounting a gas-powered generator to the back of the truck. The Cybertruck was able to charge from 12% to 100% using 15 gallons of fuel and had an overall efficiency of 18 miles per gallon.

A Cybertruck owner from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Johann Faubel, has created the first hybrid Cybertruck.

Johann achieved this feat by mounting a small, portable, gas-powered generator in the truck bed.

The Cybertruck owner showed his generator in action on a recent towing trip he took to the wilderness. Away from civilization and any power outlet, Johann was able to charge his Cybertruck from 12% to 100%, giving him enough juice to drive back from his campsite.

Johann shared his gas-powered Cybertruck experience with the Tesla Cybertruck group on Facebook.

    This is what he wrote…

“Here's my generator charging my Cybertruck off grid. For all the haters, yes, it runs on gas. Yes, it gets the job done. With 15 gallons of gas I was able to charge to 100% and have the truck ready to tow again after the weekend was over.”

Together with his post, Johann shared a video of his Cybertruck charging using a gas-powered generator.

In the video, you can see a small Predator 9500 generator running pretty loud in the middle of the night loaded onto the Cybertruck bed.

From there, Johann ran some lines and connected the generator to a Tesla mobile charger using an adapter. The charger is plugged into the Cybertruck and blinks green, which shows that the vehicle is charging without any issues.

    In the video, Johann says…

“For all the non-believers. People who don’t understand the science. There she is, charging out in the middle of the woods in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, it’s going to take a long time, but it’ll be charged by tomorrow morning.”

Johann also shares a view of his campsite, showing that he’s in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and snow-covered ground.

Following, the Cybertruck owner turns his camera to the truck’s center touch screen and shares some charging stats.

The Cybertruck is charging at 6 KW, which is slightly lower at 25 amps and 240 volts than the Tesla mobile connector’s maximum rated charge capacity of 32 amps, which would’ve increased the power to 7.5 KW.

At this rate, the Cybertruck is charging at 11 miles/hour and will take 14 hours and 5 minutes to charge fully.

According to Johann, he started at 12% and charged all the way to 100%, and in the process, he used up 15 gallons of fuel. With his Cybertruck’s 320-mile EPA range, it means, Johann has managed to get 18.7 miles per gallon of efficiency by charging his Cybertruck using a gas generator.

This doesn’t make the Cybertruck the most efficient truck; however, fellow Cybertruck owners were still happy writing that even at these levels, the Cybertruck is “more fuel efficient than the new Ford F-250.”

Should other Cybertruck owners consider installing a generator?

At 18.7 miles per gallon, the whole setup isn’t too bad if you ever find yourself in an emergency situation.

This setup can be especially useful if towing. When pulling a trailer, the Cybertruck’s range can easily be cut to less than 100 miles.

Also, at 257 lbs and a compact size, leaving the generator permanently on the truck bed wouldn't be too noticeable. Add a couple of gas cans, and you can be sure you will never be stranded out in the wilderness.

Having said that, the obvious limitation of this DIY system is that the Cybertruck will not be able to charge while driving like other hybrid vehicles.

This means every time you want to charge your Cybertruck, you will need to come to a complete stop, and at 11/miles an hour, you’ll need to be stopped for a long time to get any meaningful range.

Additionally, there is also the issue of sound. You can run the generator overnight while you are sleeping; however, getting any sleep with all that noise will be challenging.

Comparison with Tesla’s range extender battery pack

Tesla is developing a range-extender battery pack that will be launched in mid-2025. This 50KWh battery pack will give the truck another 120 miles of travel, increasing its EPA-estimated range to over 445 miles.

The range extender battery pack will be permanently mounted on the Cybertruck bed and will take up one-third of the bed space. When it becomes available, the extra battery will also cost $16,000.

On the other hand, a gas generator like the Predator 9500 that Johann used costs $2,000, takes less bed space, doesn’t need to be permanently mounted to the truck, and can add hundreds of miles of range depending on how much fuel you are willing to carry.

Having said that, it’s still important to note that the comparison is somewhat apples to oranges because the range extender battery pack also has other advantages over using a generator.

The battery pack is silent, doesn’t depend on fossil fuels, can be used while the truck is driving, has OEM support, and so on.

Tesla Cybertruck is now much cheaper with new federal tax credit that decimates its resale value

Tesla's Cybertruck is one of the most American vehicles currently made, with 90% of its parts originating from the US, Canada, or Mexico, and assembly done at Tesla's sprawling Gigafactory in Texas.

This means that the Cybertruck has been eligible for the federal made-in-US EV tax credit since inception, but since it was priced above the government's eligibility threshold, early adopters had to pay the $100,000+ sticker tag without any subsidies.

Officializing the Cybertruck tax credit eligibility, however, has brought additional pain to those early Cybertruck buyers who are now on the hook for tens of thousands of losses on their purchase. With a reservation list that was 2.5 million people long, and tight initial supply of Cybertrucks, the price on the second-hand market actually shot up way above MSRP just about a year ago. Tesla even forbade owners to resell it for several quarters and only loosened the restrictions when it had enough production capacity to meet demand.

This coincided with the filling of the initial orders, as the reservations list for the expensive pickup quickly dried up, and those who bought the cheaper dual-motor Foundation Series trim for $100,000+ now have to face a starting price of just $70,500 with the tax and referral credits.

A case in point is one owner who put $115,000 into their Cybertruck with the California sales tax and Tesla's destination fee, as well as the matte black wrap, and has now complained they have no buyers at $89,000.

Not surprisingly, as even if one adds FSD and other options and accessories that come with the Foundation Series trim to the price of the current AWD Cybertruck, they will only come up to $86,000 for a brand-new truck.

Not that the Foundation Series trim on sale isn't in an as-new condition as it only has 2,800 miles on it, and has already depreciated drastically with more than twenty grand, all the while there may be a much cheaper RWD model launched later this year.

The owner will probably have to write off at least $40,000 if they wanted to get rid of it quickly, decimating the resale value of the Cybertrucks that early adopters bought off Tesla's reservations list. Their only hope is to wait for the Trump administration that is rumored to abandon the EV tax credit altogether and thus bring the starting price of the Cybertruck back to the $80,000 level.

Last quarter, Tesla ceased the exclusive Foundation Series unit production, and started shipping regular dual- and tri-motor Cybertrucks. This move essentially lowered the Cybertruck prices by $20,000, slipping the dual-motor version below the $80,000 threshold, and making it eligible for the government's $7,500 EV tax credit that has been available to Tesla's other vehicles for a while.

Inevitably, the IRS has now included the Cybertruck in its list of electric vehicles that qualify for the full government EV tax credit amount since the beginning of the year.

I saw my first non-silver Cybertruck this week down off Hempstead, it was a bright green and I didn't think it could look any more hideous, but I stand corrected, it is just ugly AF

Tesla Has Removed All Foundation Series Cybertrucks From Its Inventory Page

The Era of the “Limited Edition” Cybertruck Comes to an End Following a Controversy Over Free Supercharger Access

Last night, Tesla removed all Foundation Series Cybertrucks from the company’s inventory page. This means starting today, there is no way to buy these “limited edition” early Cybertruck builds straight from Tesla.

For previous Tesla vehicles, the early special models were called the “Founders Series” models and were usually the first 1,000 examples of a brand-new Tesla product.

However, for the Cybertruck, Tesla sold around 25,000 Foundation Series Cybertrucks in the US before halting the program this November. Although, in Canada, Tesla is still selling the “special” Foundation Series Cybertruck variant.

For an extra $20,000 over the regular Cybertruck, the Foundation Series models include special laser-etched Foundation Series badging and come fully loaded, including the $8,000 FSD software, the $3,000 Cyber Wheels and all-terrain tires, $2,000 worth of white decore, $2,500 worth of Powershare equipment, and more.

After exhausting the over a million people-long Cybertruck truck reservation list, this past November, Tesla finally switched to producing the non-Foundation Series regular Cybertrucks.

However, despite the program ending, there were still hundreds of unsold Foundation Series Cybertrucks in the US, and the EV maker started selling these trucks on the company’s inventory page.

Interestingly enough, these inventory Foundation Series Cybertrucks have recently been a cause for frustration among early Cybertruck owners.

In order to move the unsold Cybertrucks, starting on December 27, Tesla began offering free lifetime supercharger access to anyone buying an inventory Foundation Series Cybertruck.

However, two days after we reported that early Cybertruck owners were considering petitioning Tesla to give them the same free supercharging perk, the EV maker removed all Foundation Series Cybertrucks from its inventory page.

The first person to notice this move is a California Cybertruck owner who asks, “Is the Foundation Series finally over?”

    He continues to write…

“Overnight, it looks like there is no longer any inventory posted on Tesla‘s website, although the free supercharging promotion is still on the banner.

Unlikely, they were all sold since they have been stuck on the lots for a while, and the free supercharging offer isn’t compelling for many folks.

Curious if they have all been purposed as demo/showroom trucks or if there was some orbital buffing of badges…

Regardless, it was a fun year for all of us early adopters. My one-year anniversary is coming up on the 19th - good times!”

Looking at Tesla’s inventory page in the US, there are indeed no Foundation Series Cybertrucks for sale anywhere in the country.

Currently, there are only seven Cyberturcks on Tesla’s inventory page, and they are all regular non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks.

It’s good to see Tesla finally closing what was supposed to be a limited edition Cybertruck program; however, this still raises a question.

What happened to the inventory Foundation Series Cybertrucks?

Currently, it doesn’t seem like Tesla was able to sell all the inventory Cybertrucks overnight. What’s more likely is, as the Cybertruck owner from California suggested, Tesla has repurposed the vehicles to be displayed in showrooms across the country and to be used as demo ride vehicles.

There were also reports that Tesla was buffing out the Foundation Series badging and selling the vehicles at a discount as regular versions. However, we haven’t yet been able to verify those reports independently.

Overall, whatever Tesla decides to do with the Foundation Series Cybertrucks, it’s interesting that the EV maker removed them from the inventory page less than two weeks after offering the free lifetime supercharger promotion.

Jeffrey shared his thoughts on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum under the title “Fairness Movement for Tesla to Provide Free Supercharging to Early Cybertruck Adopters”

    Here is what he wrote…

“I ordered my Cybertruck back in 2019 and took delivery of the Foundation Series when it was my turn this past Spring... I waited many months to get FSD, wheel covers, etc. It's just disappointing that I'd get free lifetime supercharging if I had bought my Cybertruck now. Does anyone know how we can start petitioning Tesla to provide us early adopters with the same supercharging benefit?”
