I’m so onboard with Fox now I’ll be mad if it doesn’t happen bucket getter, floor general, closer and 4th quarter demon, young and just entering his prime…bring him home core of Fox, Amen, Jabari, Sengun, and Tari if he’s not dealt with assets left over to keep improving
Just read an article about possibly adding Sheppard to that trade for Fox. Come on Stone!! Go for D'Aaron Fox and D'Evin Carter!!!
Sheppard is literally 2 yrs younger than Jalen. Why is Sheppard "super young" but Jalen is too old and ready to be moved? Wanna bet in 2 yrs Sheppard still wont be as good as current Jalen? Sheppard now is 5x worse than rookie Jalen.
I'm not a huge Booker guy - given his supermax, age, and underwhelming season this year - but the reasoning for the FO being more interested in Booker over Fox is that Booker is a much better offensive player by all the advanced metrics the Rockets FO loves. Booker Offensive EPM: 7th Offensive RAPM: 4th Offensive Darko: 5th Offensive on/off differential, this season: +3.9 Offensive on/off differential, average of last 5 seasons: +8.5 Fox Offensive EPM: 30th Offensive RAPM: 35th Offensive Darko: 18th Offensive on/off differential, this season: -2.4 Offensive on/off differential, average of last 5 seasons: +3.0 To analytically oriented front offices, Booker reads as a top 10 offensive player and Fox doesn't. And you need a top 10 offensive player to be a title contender.
Sure 1v1 Booker is superior to Fox, but when you take other factors into account I think they will be a lot closer. Fox wont cost as much as booker, and Fox+JG seems better to me than Booker+FVV. Sacramento is also a bumbling mess compared to Phoenix, maybe we have a higher chance of scamming them than PHX. You are right though Booker is so much better than Fox. The "down year" of Booker is like Fox's TS today lol.
Maybe I'm insane for thinking so, but I'm of the opinion Tilman is willing to pay for a really good team, and on paper, Fox and Booker here with Sengun, Thompson, Eason, whoever else is leftover, would be a real contender.
He really doesn't have a position ..... but he does so many little things well that he belongs on the court as much as possible. He's a swiss army knife ....
I think depending on matchups - you rotate him between DB and Bari minutes .. specially with Tari out right now .. and you give Cam JG backup minutes
I dont think Booker and Fox would work with Ime cuz the defense would take too much of a hit. Pretty much all the core except maybe Amen and Sengun would also be gone in that scenario since we can't afford them.
There's one other critical difference - One of them goes and gets buckets, the other one finishes plays but is set up by others. That fact along with the mediocre shooting from Booker, I just don't want to throw max money at that guy and he's already on a supermax due $49m, $53m, $57m & $61m the next 4 years.
I like Fox, but again I think we're undervaluing Cam here. He's 20 years old and could likely average 21-23 pts on decent shooting splits right now and will just get better. He's improving defensively and I see no reason he can't round out his playmaking during the course of his career. I'm still fine with keeping the course, we're not desperate, the Kings are. And we're moving between the #2-3 seed in the tough West right now. We could compete for the top seed very soon with growth. No need to lose it over the next shiny object, the grass isn't always greener imo.
Interesting - He mentions that Sac maybe looking to start completely over Fox + Sabonis = Green, FVV, Reed + a 1st? maybe 2 first Is that too rich? IT works in the NBA Trade Machine (without the picks) Rocket River Yes . . . Sac would have to be on Crack for this but they are the Kings
