It's not a perfect comp, but it's the gist of it.

I agree with this, but also think that Cam needs to be getting consistent minutes off the bench (maybe as many as 22-24ish) given what he's shown. We need the scoring.

Completely agree. I’m speaking more to the contingent who think Cam should start and get 30+ mpg. If he’s not going to change his game, I think he has great potential as a sixth man.

Lol who said to build around that? It's just one role....

Cam is essentially what Jalen is, only he can shoot and he's a lot stronger.

No one is building around that.

It was awesome to watch Cam up close last night. He is skilled and I think if he got back to having consistent minutes 20-25. Maybe he would be little happier and he will show a better attitude. I really hope he works out in Houston. He is really the type of player the Rockets need.

I do think there would be value though in putting players like this in a position where they can truly get their butts kicked a bit so they see they really aren’t the top dog. Players like this do often get traded early on and they go to a situation where they are given a chance they weren’t and they find out real quick how hard the league actually is. That’s unfortunately why players like this aren’t valuable to a team until their third team.

You know people can have differing opinions, right? Also, it's not like Jalen has set the bar very high.

No need to be insulting or are you a douche in person, too?

...but he's not getting minutes because of his defensive inattention(which by the way, he looked WAY more engaged last night than I have seen him defensively) more so than his unwillingness to pass because we can live with him being a black hole on offense against second units right now if he can convert.

The problem with him right now is if his shot isn't falling, he lacks other ways to impact the game - defense, rebounding, passing, etc. I suspect his defensive focus is something more important to Udoka and something frankly Cam will have more control of at this stage in his career. He strikes me as a reactive player more than a thinking player(similar to Jalen) so I think reading defenses is going to take a long while for him like it has for Jalen(who has gotten better at first level reads)

Not sticking up for the way that message was delivered but I agree with the sentiment that very very very few people out there would say Cam was a better prospect than Jalen. Cam had well documented tunnel vision and poor defensive focus coming into the draft as well as medical red flags. The concerns for Jalen were around shooting and finishing consistency, putting on strength to his frame, and improving playmaking for better reads. Jalen is a willing passer but he struggles to know the best person to pass it to and often times he finds them too late.

Why do I have to respect stupid opinions? I'm not insulting your being, your overall intelligence as a human. Maybe you are a great mathematician or great carpenter. You suck at analyzing the sport. Maybe don't take pride in stuff you aren't good at.

Cam is better now than Jalen was at the same age and probably has more somewhat realistic potential than Jalen does at this point. Jalen is a better player right now and has a 9 figure extension that hasn't started yet.

If we were a lotto team I'd be really annoyed with Cam's minutes this season, especially in relation to Jalen's. But we're third in the West so it's understandable.

No. Just for reference both had the same exact rookie adjusted scoring efficiency of 97 rTS but Green did that scoring on 50% self created buckets vs Cam's 28% and Cam averaged more turnovers than assists which Green didn't. So Green scored more on higher volume and the same efficiency but much more difficult shot profile and took care of the ball better.

cam bad defense better than jalen bad defense because
cam can at least be presentable defensively agaisnt 3s and 4s whereas
    jalen cannot guard 1s 2s 3s 4s nor 5s

    Sir this isn't 2022.

Just so you understand some of the most notable haters of Jalen who have conceded on Green being a bad defender narrative. That ship has sailed a long time ago. You need to update your hater programing.

The rockets play the Celtics and the Lakers this week. Given that this season is important but we still have some runway before heads will roll, if I was Stone I would pull Ime and say..

“look dude…we all know where this is likely going with Cam. Why don’t we call a meeting with Cam, and his agent and tell him we are starting Cam the next two games, resting FVV, and running Jalen at PG. However Cam is responsible for guarding Tatum and LeBron. If he can hold both players under 30% shooting, and himself shoot over 50% from the field, AND win both games, I will ensure you are in the lineup and play 30 minutes a night the rest of the season.”

Why not just take the opportunity to see if he can get his butt kicked by someone better than Jeenathan or Tatum or whoever he practices against, and if he stinks it up maybe it’ll be a learning moment that’ll truly harness his talent to contribute to winning. And if he’s the star of those games and shuts down Tatum and Lebron that’s pretty awesome as well.

Love the fire and can see he has more grit and drive than Green. Can’t wait to get Green out of here to make room for Cam.

I don't even understand how it's possible some casual is saying this while Ime Udoka - who seems to know nothing about life except how to play defense - says Green doesn't get the credit he deserves for his defense.

I bet Cam sees Jalen’s unearned near-max contract extension and says, “why not me?”

I mean, simply because we might lose a game we can otherwise win. The team was very transparent that we're over a year into phase 2. This kind of stuff is not going to happen again for ten years man.
