It does make sense and they are different skills. I am worried about his hard hit percentage and arm at third long term - but I think his arm is fine for the next handful of years.
I live in Chicago - there was a lot of discussion about it. Part of the reason cited by the media was that he was adjusting to a new city, new house and league all in the middle of the season. Most guys handle it fine but there are some that take awhile to adjust.
Well that doesn’t bode super well for this next year when I has to adjust to a new city, house and league. Hopefully he is working hard on the transition now.
Having the offseason to at least settle into a new house/hime can be comforting. I’ve heard stories that after a mid season trade, a player may end up living at a hotel until they can actually get their families moved from their homes during the offseason. Paredes knows he’ll be here for the foreseeable future, so he has a few month to get acclimated to the city and feel at home.
Paredes has always been a guy who maximized his gifts. Like Altuve he's a bad exit velo guy who gets home runs by hitting it to the right spots with the right launch angle. And with Paredes it's very ballpark dependent because every bit of his power is to left field. Not even a single deep fly to right. So it seems like he was in the wrong spot in Wrigley Field and the absolute right spot here at MMP / Daikin. Crawford boxes should get his bat going.
Possibly but he has had a longer period to adjust and Chicago is a lot more difficult to get used to than Houston for a 25 year old used to Mexico and Tampa.
I'm in NY I only see the commercials on MLB Extra innings. I suspect it is like Del Taco from back in the day. Maybe Chi-Chis?
No it’s just a nasty taqueria. I’d rather have Del Taco. Chi-chi’s lol. Haven’t thought of that place in many years.
My go to for cheap Mexican back in the day before I became a productive member of society was: PANCHO'S. My flag is up......... where de Fuq are my Sopapillas'
I bet it's still better than the stuff they call Mexican here in Albany NY. What I miss for good Texas foods like BBQ, Chicken fried steak and fried okra, I get back in spades with great pizza and banging Chinese food. Sadly, what I miss the most is Big Red soda. And I no longer drink soda, but if Big Red is around, I'm your Huckleberry.
As a kid growing up ponchos was our treat for special occasions. My parents would spoil us by giving us an “authentic” Mexican experience! Lol
