Lmao, i do admire your persistence man, it’s fun. Big benefit of the internet though is you don’t have to keep a straight face typing this kinda stuff.
He didn’t shoot himself out of anything - He was driving to rim like crazy in 3rd qtr - Lively got a block or 2 and they didn’t call a foul on Kleva .. that’s 3 misses right there He had 1 bad shot which was a 3 and another 3 he had to take at end of shot clock cause he got ball with 4 seconds left yall r****ds need to watch the games
Jalen had a behind back pass to Alpi that Alpi kicked to DB for 3 He hit Cam with a pass for 3 and because Cam dribbled into a step back it didn’t count as assist He hit Alpi in paint multi times 1st qtr and JG kicked out to FVV who was bricking everything tonight He’s more than a willing passer, almost too much so
It's funny because The coach is one of the worst at creating an offense with high assists (typical for a good offense without a superstar scorer) The team sucks at assists, one of the worst in the NBA at passing and making shots The team WANTS to move the ball more Team had just 16 assists against Dallas Outside of Fred, the remaining 8 players got 9 total assists 6 players are averaging fewer assists than last season IIRC ... but Jalen Green has tunnel vision because he got 0 assists instead of 1. Brought to you by the very same guys explaining to us we're not seeing the big picture with Jalen. Amazing irony.
Yeah I didn't think his shooting was bad either. Thought he played decent and had some good defensive plays. Besides the last 5 minutes of the game I thought he played well, The part that's gonna kill him is when we went to him in the clutch he dribbled the ball off his foot and then passed it to the other team. The thing about Jalen is he never gets those calls. He got way more calls than he usually does yesterday.
Just to confirm that you were right about him having thrown some good passes. While he had zero assists (I was responding to you saying "he threw some dimes"), he had 7 potential assists and 1 secondary assist.
I mean both can be true at the same time. Ime doesn't run that beautiful game stuff with lots of passing, and the Jalen doesn't have good floor vision/passing chops.
Jalen actually passed well yesterday; the stat line is deceiving. And I was happy to see him knocking down more mid-range shots. He also played good defense. Unfortunately he continues to struggle shooting the 3. To me Jalen is just not a good enough shooter to be a starter at the 2. He turns the ball over way too much. And his finishing at the rim is still pretty weak; he can get shut down at the rim by decent defenders. I’m looking forward to finally moving off Jalen. Wish I could go back in time and somehow prevent the unnecessary extension.
just say you don’t like Jalen - he only took 3 3’s last night and 2 of them were grenades Harden led/leads the league in TO .. Alpi avgs same TO as Jalen…The only reason FVV doesn’t have high TO is his pace Here is where JG stands among SG in TO (since you had to come in this thread to try and nitpick about something)
I wish Jalen all the success in the world…just not on the rockets. He’s been given more opportunities than most any player I can think of. At some point you have to make a decision before you devote a quarter of your cap to him. He’d work on a rebuilding team that has cap room to gamble on young talent, but he’s not a good fit on a bad shooting team that’s actually trying to win. Bad handles, poor shooting, weak finishing…time to move on.
Sounds like you just have a very strong opinion and your mind is made up on a young player, best thing for you to do is avoid any negative energy all together and not post in this particular thread.
God help us if you think the solution to you believing Green has poor handles and shooting is giving someone on this roster Green's role because they "deserve it more". If you do I'd like you to point to some magical player on this roster at Green's age range that has the better combo of handles, finishing, shooting and defensive effort. Like maybe you think Reed has better handles? But dude can't create separation to save his life and being undersized means those handles are at the moment useless. Amen? Absolutely worse handles than Green and a worse shooter with more stiff touch around the rim. Ultra elite talent when it comes to utility roles like defense and secondary playmaking but definitely not the skillsets to replace Green's role. Cam? The worst handles of our young guard/wing group outside Tari. As streaky of a shooter as Green but probably not as sustainable seeing hea a worse ft shooter and is streaky with limited minutes and less defensive effort meaning his shooting will fall off more if he is given full starter minutes and is asked to play defense at Ime's standard. So is there this magical player waiting in our roster that deserves Green's role? Who is it? Why? Green having poor handles is a joke meme by now. His handles aren't the level of a true PG like Darius Garland or Kyrie. But they are absolutely above average for a scoring combo guard.
Everything you ever heard about anything COULD be true, but that's not what we're discussing. What's being suggested here is that the game is evidence that Jalen has tunnel vision. Regardless of whether he actually does or doesn't, this game was obviously not good evidence either way. More importantly, a team near last in Assists, TS% and 3PT% is always going to make scoring harder on whoever has to collapse the defense. That's a systemic and cultural problem. The team needs to stop blaming players for systemic things.
Jalen can still be a good complementary player. My hope for him to become a superstar scorer has come down to near zero given that this is his fourth season in the league. He can have spurts of elite scoring here and there. But he can't seem to do it for the whole game night in and night out like those true franchise leading scorers do. And his playmaking ability is still mediocre at best. Simply put, if we depend on him to be our lead scorer, we aren't going to be a title contender. Interestingly, the ROY of Jalen's draft class, Scottie Barnes, has turned out to be another inconsistent scorer. Barnes is also super athletic but can't reliably shoot from outside. Toronto is going nowhere with Barnes and Barrett as their top guys.
Asking a young scoring guard to exert this level of defense on a elite western conference team and still be asked to create his offense against point of attack defenses is a tall ask. At Green's age a guy like Booker was putting up 26 ppg on like 56% ts which is okay I guess but on a 20 win team with no ask for high intensity elite effort on defense. Green in his second year with Booker's situation of no expectations besides "buckets" was on pace with Booker scoring wise (22 ppg on around 54% ts both in their respective sophomore year). I'm not saying Green will be that lead superstar scorer. I'm giving you a reason to up that percentage from near zero to maybe 20%. Scottie Barnes is having trouble with consistency and efficiency on a team where he isn't asked to give it his all on defense. I just think its easier for young lottery picks to score on bad teams due to the team structure and expectations allowing for more freedom and energy on offense.
