Brian T Smith was probably the only local media person that use to ask tough questions. He’s way in England now.
Give me a break..."some"...key word here. Don't use the voice of some to make it sound like a majority.
No one I know wants Demeco to be fired, he is learning on the job and I am fine with that. I have faith changes will come in the off season, no one can watch this offense and be OK with it.....................would I like to see Bobby fired, Hell Yea, but now is not the time.............the time will be one minute after we get bounced in the playoffs. I predict a massive overhaul on the offensive side of the ball. I would like to trade Tunsil for a good draft pick and then shore up the O Line through the draft and free agency and get 2 interior D linemen who are run stuffers................I don't care about winning 9-10 games, build this team to beat the Chiefs, Ravens and Bills.
I agree. It seems the person is trying to start some drama with that post and Terrell Owens took the bait. The Texans will give Demeco every chance to make this right and succeed.
The rah rah rah, being a players coach is great and all that when you're an up and coming team but when expectations aren't being met and the same problems keep resurfacing throughout the entire season, then changes need to be made. No way Demeco gets fired but he needs to take a hard look at all the position coaches and the offensive coordinator. Not a chance you run this offense back next year. If he does, then that alone is grounds for termination. Maybe it's Slovic, maybe it's CJ, maybe it's the players not executing like they are supposed to. If Demeco keeps the same OC next year and no changes are made, there better be major improvements or else he will be gone along with the entire coaching staff. To have this kind of talent and stumble over and over again every game is unacceptable.
Does he have that much power, or will the GM or owner demand Slowik and his offensive coaches get fired?
If he keeps Slowik he's basically tethered his future to Slowik's this next season. Fire/Hire a new offensive staff (I have no opinion on position coaches outside of the OL) and he earns some goodwill/time.
I think that’s what’s most likely to happen. The front office believing their scheme and plays were handicapped by the O-line coaching and not willing to give up on a second-year coordinator. Wanting to avoid the continued narrative of being the place where coaches go to get fired. While I think that’s likely to happen, I have no idea what their actual reasoning will be. The reasons I’ve given are just me throwing darts.
I think the whole team was handicapped by the coaching and staff this year. From their play calling, stubbornness, refusal to change, preparation, and choices of starters. Hopefully they do a better job in the playoffs.
With better ol play things should be better. I want them all gone because I want there to be a new staff and no excuses for CJ.
No problem really with Ryans as HC, he just needs an OC (and staff) who can competently run that side of the game. If he brings Slowik back (please no) and we see the same issues next season, then he deserves to be fired.
Oh I wasn't talking about DeMeco in that quote, but I agree. If DeMeco brings back Slowik and this repeats next season...there will need to be a deep look at the HC.
