Yeah - expect Pham can fight…. and makes sure his teammates pay their gambling debts… Winker is more concerned about showering and beating the stadium traffic home. I can live with Pham’s personality or Winker’s for one year at 5-8 million… just swing the bat and be at the stadium before the PA announcer starts talking… hit in the 7-8 slot and keep your mouth shut.
I just think it's great that Pham has been in MLB for 11 years and has played for 10 teams (couple of teams twice maybe?), or something like that
Winker isn't too much better, may be on his 6th team in 5 seasons. If they both sign with new teams they will have, I s**t you not, 15 teams between them in the last 5 seasons. These dudes are god tier pricks.
A good controllable OF bat, another lower tier FA bat, and an upside RP to replace Pressly would leave a stacked roster. Here’s hoping.
Any idea if they have interest in Randal Grichuk? Although not a lefty hitter but would be on a cheaper and shorter size contract. Not sure if Brian McTaggart was told by him or just assuming but he said Grichuk would want to play for Houston since he's from somewhere near Houston. As for Winker, as long as him and his teammates don't cause a distraction, I want him. Was it him who he almost fought with a Brewer in the playoffs last year? Perhaps he can bring energy to the team and change momentum when they need.
If Grichuk will sign for <$7M he’d be fine, although I’d prefer Heyward or Polanco over Grichuk. I think the odds are high Grichuk’s 2024 was a dead cat bounce.
If we were to pull that off, with trading only 1 of Arrighetti, Blanco, or Garcia, I think we would be American League favorites.
Lineup if we pulled off forementioned roster additions. Against RH: Altuve 2b Paredes 3b Alvarez DH Walker 1b Robert CF Diaz C Winker LF Dicenzo RF Pena SS Against LH: Altuve 2b Pena SS Alvarez DH Walker 1b Diaz C Robert CF Paredes 3b Chas RF Dubon LF
Neris, Robert, and Heyward would be my guess. But there’s lots of options. That roster would be sick: CF Robert Jr. 2B Altuve DH Alvarez 1B Walker 3B Paredes C Diaz RF Heyward LF McCormick SS Pena Bench: Dubon, Meyers, Caratini, Singleton Rotation: Framber, Brown, Blanco, Garcia, Wesneski, McCullers Bullpen: Hader, Abreu, Neris, Scott, Ort, Dubin, Whitley
No Winker. Do you folks not know about his super douche baggery?? I hate seeing him on some of your lists. He isn’t even a good player.
He absolutely mashes RH pitching. That's why he is on the list. Douche baggery has never stopped us before.
Robert and Winker both have attitude problems. The difference is, Winker had an OPS about 100 points higher than Robert last season and is a free agent that doesn’t cost anything except money. If he can produce 3 or 4 quality at bats a game, I don’t care about anything else.
I wonder if the Astros could look at something completely different. Christian Yelich? Hi He would have to prove he's healthy, but if so, he just looks and feels like the player they would covet. Owed $24.5M AAV for his age 33-36 seasons. Crane is usually good with less than 5 years for a star. Milwaukee likes high ceiling SP, maybe the want Javier? Just make sure both teams are happy with the medicals. Javier 3 yrs @ $17.7M 2025: Astros +$6.8M 2026: Astros +$6.8M 2027: Astros +$6.8M 2028: Astros +$24.8M Maybe Brewers add a prospect who, if he makes it, lessens the impact in 2028? Edit: $17.7M is recalculated AAV Milwaukee would pay but it's $12.8 M for Astros. 2025-2027: +$11.7M 2028: +$24.8M
