But that's less because FVV being good, and more that the Rockets literally have zero playable PGs on the roster besides FVV. Jalen isn't a PG. Amen is not used as a PG. Reed just isn't ready. And they refuse to play Holiday for some reason even though he wasn't bad last year. If the Rockets bring in some placeholder meh PG at the deadline, I don't think people would find FVV nearly as irreplacable. I don't think the Rockets trade for Lavine given that Tilman will be paying the tax real quick if that happens. But I don't think FVV should be the sticking point in any trade.
I certainly don't think he's a liability, he can stay in front of his defender and averaged 2 steals a game last year (steals leader). He plays better defense than Curry ever did.
Quoted for truth.... I mean his nickname is Swipa. I think a defense led by Fox of Amen - Tari - Bari and with Cam is constantly harassing other teams and getting steals (+ easy transition buckets). plus Shep... if he stays.
Fox works because he will help speed up the pace - he’s already played with a similar skilled big as Alpi and knows how to get him involved without bogging down the offense. He knows he can get his at anytime so unlike FVV who seems to become envious when one of our players get hot (JG, Bari, Alpi) he won’t start jacking rainbow 3s and throwing off the rhythm of the offense. Fox JG Amen gives us 3 of the quicker players in the league, that will help vs teams like OKC just lookup the Rockets players 4th qtr stats on statmuse and look at FGA and 3pt % - FVV plays the most minutes and takes the most attempts while JG BARI and DB %’s all look the same (that’s on the PG)
You know what True shooting percentage means? Fox has an elite TS. He's not chucking shots and having those shots brick, in fact he is converting those shots at an elite rate and with high volume whether thats scoring in the paint, getting fouled, and yes, shooting 3s. We've had Morey as a GM for over 9 yrs Rox fans should be more educated about stats than the average casual.
my problem with Fox and why im hesitant to trade for him, is how a HUGE portion of their fanbase straight up think "he doesnt want it". that to me is scary. I keep reading about how often times he just doesnt seem engaged or care to try. can Ime fix that? possibly, but its a scary thought if hes your go to man. beyond that, on paper hes a near perfect fit.
I agree with this. Fox is going to shoot just as well as Fred or Jalen from the outside while being 1,000,000% better at everything else offensively. And as he develops chemistry on the pick and roll, It should enhance Alpi. Because now, instead of both elements being slow, one of the elements is super quick. I think shot quality for just about everyone goes up with fox.
Dude just won the clutch award a couple years ago. For someone who doesnt want it he sure won a lot of games to get that award. Maybe he doesnt want it this season, and thats cuz their team sucks and they lose game after game. That can wear on anybody.
Granted this is from Fox himself, but... There has been some speculation that Fox may have been unhappy with Brown, in part because of the way the veteran coach criticized him for committing a disastrous foul in the closing seconds of Thursday’s loss to Detroit, but the former All-Star tells Shelburne he enjoys being coached hard and was on good terms with Brown. “I feel like there’s this perception that people thought that we were at odds,” Fox says. “You can ask anybody in this organization: me and Mike have never even had an argument. We could disagree with something. We talked about it and it was gone.”
So you believe the second hand source who aint even in the NBA anymore? If I accuse you of being a pedo does that mean I am correct cuz you will never come out and admit it? Thats literally your logic right now.
I don't think this is on Ime. Jalen Green is the only 2 guard on the roster - other than Jeenathan Williams who is on a 2 way. As for the PG spot, Holiday's stats say he should be a good option but as soon as he replaces FVV, the offense sputters and dies on the roadside. Really that's his only options at the guard spots, Shepard can't seem to find his shot, and I know you are gonna argue Amen is a point guard but he just isn't ready yet, maybe some day but not today. Ball security is job one and he has to improve there. This is more on Stone's roster construction than who's number Ime calls.
True... which is why I said it was from Fox. That being said, it seems like MOST of the Kings' players felt like he was hyper critical (deserved or not). After speaking to Brown, McNair and Wilcox called De’Aaron Fox, DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis to let them know, but none were consulted beforehand, Shelburne reports. Shelburne also confirms a report from The Athletic stating that Kings players had grown weary of Brown publicly bashing the team in post-game press conferences. For what it’s worth, Marc Stein writes that it’s a “struggle to find anyone around the league” who thinks the firing of Brown was justified (Substack link).
from this Jabari Smith Jr.56.5 Dillon Brooks 55.6 Alperen Sengun 54.6 Jalen Green 53.0 Fred VanVleet 50.2 to this Jabari Smith Jr.56.5 Dillon Brooks 55.6 Alperen Sengun 54.6 Amen Thompson 60.9 De'Aaron Fox 57.8
Ya he was doing that stuff too often, he clearly saw the writing on the wall. He got his extension after their one fluke good season though so good for him. No player has ever come out and said they wanted the coach fired though so what he’s saying is beyond worthless.
