We used a top 3 pick on him thats almost as valuable as a max contract. With Fox you get 26 pts 9 ast on a 55M, with Brickpard you got 0 return on the last top 3 pick Rox will see for the forseeable future. With Fox you are worrying about something that hasnt happened yet but with Brickpard we already lost that top pick and wont get it back. Why do you care so much about the money? You're not the one paying the salary it would be Tilman. We dont have any other max guy on the docket we can afford everyone even with 1 max contract. Maybe jG is gone but people like you hate him anyway right? If we wont pay Fox you know that money will just go to FVV.
Let’s be real, none of the rookies we could have realistically drafted would have helped us this season. Sarr & Risacher both look raw and are shooting horribly despite getting plenty of minutes. Castle can’t shoot and would barely get minutes because of 40mil-40min FVV. Holland would be stuck behind 4 players. Clingan has trouble staying on the court for a team with nothing to play for & is another paint clogger. Edey I liked but predictably is already following the footsteps of Yao with injuries. No one was taking Knect early and McCain is a hindsight selection who’s now going to miss extended time. It’s a shame Reed turned into Jerry Lin Simmons after Summer League.
The only thing i care about is seeing the rockets win a title, so i root for everything that i think will increase those odds and root against everything that i think will hurt those odds. I view fox on a 30% max as a negative, so i don't want him. I wanted reed in the draft, so far he looks bad, i could be wrong about that. Guess what, i've been wrong many times before. I LOVED jalen and would've taken him 1st and he busted out, oh well, i was wrong. The opportunity cost with reed so far is zero, there's nobody picked after him that i would care if the rockets had.
Sure you can look at it that way. But i think People get caught up in draft positioning too much. Not everyone gets to be a star and everyone transitions to the NBA level differently. Success is relative. There’s plenty of top 5 picks who’s had great careers as bench guys. Patrick Williams, Kris Dunn, Bagley, markelle Fultz, Shaun Livingston etc. If he becomes at least a very good bench player thats a success.
Nah the opportunity cost for Brickpard is really high. At top 3 we could have traded him for people who could actually shoot. Just cuz you dont care about anybody picked after him doesnt mean there's nobody worth picking in this draft. Ryan Dunn? Jaylen Wells? These guys shoot 3s while also being really good defenders.
We can get a bench guy just by spending money. If it takes 2 yrs to develop a bench guy thats a massive failure for a top 3 pick. We could have paid Tyus Jones the 10M salary Brickpard is making now and we dont need to wait 2 yea for a high quality bench.
Nah those other guys would have gained minutes cuz of defense. Castle for us would be Amen ver 0.75. There is no bad draft at top 3 only bad picks. Ask Spurs fans if they hate Castle or think he is a bust. Lumping Castle with Brickpard is a massive insult to Castle. Spurs are winning and way ahead of schedule and Castle is a part of that success.
Those guys don’t move the needle or matter at this point. Some people like castle but he’s been an abomination so far and would never see the floor for the rockets. This is a pointless conversation anyway, you have made it clear you hate him. I think he’ll be fine long term (which is all i care about, this season is irrelevant to me), if not, that’s a bummer because he’ll be the 2nd guard I really liked to be a bust (3rd if you could scoot who I would’ve drafted 2nd last season).
We lost so many games by 5 pts or less yes they wouldve moved the needle if we got someone better than 2.9 ppg. The Wolves game we lost by 1 pt and Sheppard gave us 6 mins of nothing. If we had Castle that game he woulda done something in those 6 mins and we woulda won. Its not Rocket science. Everyone who keeps saying nobody we got would've mattered just arent paying attention. .
Castle has been an abomination, dude has sub 48 TS and like a -5.5 bpm. He absolutely sucks. That doesn’t mean he’s a bust though, he’s just a rookie, give him time. I don’t even understand what you’re arguing or what your point is.
