This is why i'm so against a fox deal. The cost will be astronomical just for the rights to sign a guy to an albatross deal, pretty much a death nail for the rockets. I wish i had more faith in stone/tilman but....that's tough.
I would be pretty upset if the rockets made this trade. Cam and Reed are legit top quality prospects. I can see Cam becoming a star scorer in this league. Giving up both those guys plus our entire treasure chest of picks for a guard that can’t shoot is my worst nightmare. Plus any deal for Fox needs to include Jalen. Two guards that turn the ball over a ton and can’t shoot in the same backcourt would be frustrating to watch.
the only trade for fox that makes any sense involves jalen greeen and minimal future draft capital like 1 future first not in 25 and not a suns pick jalen from sactown/fresno area let them have him but only if fox willing to give hometown discount on extension something like 4 130
Top quality prospects? Cam Whitmore is just a gunner with some athleticism…Reed looks supbar and was the 3rd pick in an atrocious draft…in most drafts, Reed would be taken nowhere near 3rd overall Fox can get into the paint at will and is an elite midrange shooter…he scores far more than anyone on our team and does so with an efficiency only topped by Amen Thompson among our regular rotation players…Jalen is a guy who truly can’t shoot, not Fox Fox and FVV had the exact same turnover rate last year, and this season, Fox’s turnover rate is only at 13%
I’m watching Mavs vs Kings. The Kings look deflated. Mavs are without Luka, Kyrie and Klay and they are still up 20 on Sacramento….. Fox is playing not to get hurt at this point.
I think any trade for Fox needs to start with FVV. Also one thing other people dont realize is Fox can also be flipped for another star. Fox wont cost much and if say Booker becomes available, a team like PHX would like Fox more than FVV.
He's near the right age window and is a proven all-star and scoring option. As with anything else, it would depend on the cost and contract. He's not an MVP-caliber or perennial all-star player (he's been there once), or all defensive, etc. so the scenario would need to be scaled back a bit imo.
It depends - Sacramento may not want FVV. In that case the Rockets can either try to move him in a separate deal or split up 96 minutes between Green/FVV/Fox. The biggest issue is that both FVV and Fox are better as point of attack defenders, so that could be an issue. Ultimately Fox would run the point - and while he isn’t a superstar, I think Rockets fans don’t realize how good he is. Also agree Rockets could always trade him later. I would give up Reed or Smith and one Rockets #1 and one Suns #1 for him…
Ehh he may have only been to one all star game but he is that type of player… he has averaged 25 points a game the last 4-5 years in the league, has made an All NBA Team and has a chance this year as well. I think it comes down to whether you think he has room to improve. I personally believe he has unrealized talent on both sides of the ball. Defensively he won’t be All Defense but he can be better than average with more focus and accountability. Offensively I think he can be a better passer and mid range shooter… I could see him ticking up to 28 points a night and 7-8 assists. Is that Harden or Wade or Jordan? No - but it’s on par with Mitchell.
FVV has an unguaranteed contract if they dont want him they can cut him. You dont want FVV and Fox because the defense takes a hit. Jalen is a really good defender and if he has a good pg beside him in Fox maybe he improves. Right now FVV is scoring at 50% TS Fox will be a massive improvement.
The Reedsters here are so delusional they think Brickpard is better than freaking Fox LMAO. Turn their nose up at 26 pts but value the 3 ppg dude.
