yeah, we’re gonna stop pretending as if FVV is anywhere near Fox as a player…don’t give a damn what random 3 letter acronyms they call an advanced stat someone wants to throw out
If you were on the fence, now is the time to jump.on over head 1st.. lol We don't lose the last 2 with that assassin from Cypress leading the charge...
Actually we don't. Who are all of the athletic guards who's gane fell off a cliff when they turned 30? Lot's of guys who fell off due to injury, but who are the guys that lost their athleticism without being due to injuries?
It's OK to be against trading for Fox, but those of you who say FVV is just as good (or almost as good) shred your credibility.
So you're strategy is to just sit on our assets and wait for an opportunity that you just said isn't likely. I think the Knicks already tried that strategy with Lebron, right?
So a guy averaging 26 points per game on 63%ts is semi-washed up? The only issue with Lillard is his age. Lillard is a lock as a HOFer. If you're knock on a guy is that they "only" average 26pts with efficient shooting, you're probanly going to be waiting a long time to find a player that is better and available.
We won't be able to trade Jalen due to the poison pill that was triggered when he and Sengun signed their extensions. Green is likely here for the remsinder of the season.
So he's averaging 26pts, 5 reb, 6 ast on 57.5 Ts% when he's checked out? Then obviously he must be the most talented player in the league because there's only 7 other guys in the league scoring that many points with an efficiency that good. Think what his numbers would be if he wasn't checked out.
We currently have no ability to penetrate and collapse a defense with our guards. Therefore the defense can just stay at home on their man and force us to take tough shot after tough shot. Fox not only can get into the lane for his own shot but would open up better shots for the team in these close games.
Ok, let's do some math. In 32 games, Fox is 65 of 202 (32.3%) from behind the arc. If he were shooting 40% on the same 202 attempts, then he would have made 80.8 3-pointers. lets round up to 81 3's. So, if he had made 16 additional 3 pointers in these 32 games, then he would be a 40% 3 point shooter. That's 1 additional 3 pointer every other game. That's a deal breaker for us? Fact is that he scores over 26 pts/ game and does it efficiently. He's one of the best clutch players in the league and he drives alot and shoots 57% on those drives and his team scores points on over 70% of his drives. Think that may have helped the last couple of games? Bottom line is that it's difficult to acquire really good players. Teams often overpay to either acquire them or to retain them. It's just too difficult to replace them. Jalen Brown wasn't a supermax player, but the Celtics paid him because if they let him walk , then it would have been almost impossible to replace him. It worked out pretty well for them. The cap is goint to be increasing 10% per year for the next few years. The $80m a year salaries are on the horizon. If you can extend a guy, then you do it as soon as possible because the extension will be at today's max. Three years from now, that's not going to be a big deal.
Do you also recommend buying lottery tickets as a retirement plan? Do you think that a major upgrade at pg which also addresses two major weaknesses would make us mediocre? If so, you must think that we are pretty bad right now.
Like I said, we lose a much better defensive player for a better offensive player in the trade. Im fine with trading Fred, but not in giving up picks and bench players too for Fox. Hopefully after the season ends we can trade off Jalen and Fred in a package deal for the right player or two. I'd rather wait for someone who is better on defense, can drive to the rim, and is better at hitting 3's than Fox.
After the last two games, I both believe that (A) Fox would represent a huge upgrade to this team and (B) we are not as good enough to be looking for that final piece as of right now. Perhaps the team can trade for Fox in anticipation of a future jump in team quality going forward due to how young everyone is. But it will definitely be a risk. And Fox for all his warts is going to demand in the neighborhood of 80~100% of Donovan Mitchell's return. So the Suns picks and a couple of Rockets own future picks at the very least.
