I knew a guy 20 years ago who was the head of IT for a major company. He rarely hired people with degrees, because colleges and universities were so far behind by the time someone finished their degree. He hired people who had legit certificates from reputable places. You do not need a degree to be a badass programmer. We need more 2 year IT schools where they skip all the "basics" and go straight into programming.

 

Absolutely not. However there have been tons of layoffs in IT this year. Americans who are solidly qualified yet they can't get jobs. Elon is using this H1B **** to get cheap labor who are under his thumb having threats of being sent back to their home countries. The H1B was established to address any shortages we have with American citizens. We have no shortage of qualified Americans.

I think you are showing your hand here. Yes you don't need schooling to be a CEO. Being a CEO is a administrative role that requires networking and class solitary with shareholder class. It has nothing to do with technical knowledge.

So no you don't need advanced education to be a CEO. A lot of dumb people make good CEOs, because what makes a good CEO has nothing to do with technical merit in math and science.

 

People like Musk like H1B! visa holders because you can threaten them with deportation if they don't adhere to demands like 60hr work weeks.

They are an easier class of people to exploit than American citizens.

 

I have interviewed 2-300 people over the last few years. 99% aren't good enough programmers. School barely teaches you anything, and you want people who barely understand how computers work to write high quality efficient code that is scalable and works 24/7? There is a reason why CS salaries are so bimodal. You don't need a degree, but usually the super smart people did good in HS and go to good colleges and get good grades. Learning a framework or a language is trivial. That is why tech interviews are so DSA heavy. Most bootcamper struggle with those kind of questions.

 

When democrats speak of fairness, equality and representation, they only want it in their echo chambers. For example, Democrats believe Twitter pre 2022 was slightly or evenly left leaning material while they now believe current version is one step from 4Chan.
