I wonder the same thing. Maybe he joins a team in may or june. Of course, he is trying to get to 300 so who knows.
why tf do people think Montero is an asset on the books still??? released in June / DFA'd.... or am i glitching in the matrix
@Tomstro what happened to the Orioles supposedly actually spending with their new owner? They’re looking as cheap as ever…
I'm with you on this, but if they trade Framber they will probably add a SP3 in FA and they must feel good about prospects Blubaugh/Gusto/Brito etc... I also would expect another Kikuchi type trade at the deadline.
Also he had the right to refuse and become a free agent. The Astros said they haven't given up on him and asked him to report to Sugarland. Was hoping AAA would build his confidence up. I think the 1 main issue I read was when it got to a certain count, he would shake off the catcher because he wasn't confident. Would throw a pitch he felt comfortable with and unfortunately 90% of the time it back fired. He just needs to tell himself, trust the catcher/pitching coach next season. At this point, what does he have to lose? What he was comfortable with wasn't working so if he trusts the catcher this time and it doesn't work, still the same result. Best case scenario, he finds success.
With Burnes getting 6/210, I think Framber can realistically get or at least seek $200 mil+ next season if he has a decent year. Question is, do the Astros take advantage of Framber's free agent year and hope he goes max effort to get paid, only to let him walk? I don't think the Astros will give him $200 mil for any reason and 3 years may be the max they'd go.
Maybe, those 90% of the times the pitch backfired is because the Astros catchers told the hitter what was coming #bulldurham #don'tshakemeoff
There's a case, that case would have to include a guy like Tatis and a prospect for Framber. I'm not trading away a 3 time top 10 Cy Young guy for hope.
If they don't trade Framber, that may indicate they don't feel that good about those guys and their ability to perform in 2025. If they thought they were ready at this past trade deadline, they wouldn't have needed Kikuchi. I hope they all work out, but pitching prospects are so fickle.
I'm aware, it's to offset money from Montgomery. Montgomery for Montero would be a salary dump of about 10 million for Arizona... It would be like the Astros signing Montgomery to a 1 year 10 million deal if you consider Montero to be unplayable.
He's still in the organization. Maybe due to the dfa his salary can't be traded. Not sure how cba treats such a situation. Usually the new team is responsible if claimed on waivers and old team if not.
Salary will be done after this upcoming season. Jose Abreu, Lance McCullers, Rafael Montero Large Salaries thankfully will be gone.
I hate this ****er so much. How can you say the dodgers don’t have an advantage over 99% of the league.
If the Astros want to win another World Series, they need to get McCullers in there "Weekend at Bernies" style if need be. Astros have been to 5 WS and won 2. McCullers pitched in those 2 WS and didn't in the other 3. Bury him in the H, but dig him up for the WS.
Rookie Lance McCullers was literally shaking at Dodger stadium as a starter, literally hitting batters, got pulled for Brad Peacock, Charlie Morton. Justin Verlander warming up in the bullpen. Fun Time to have Aces.
All I know is that he is afraid of a physical confrontation- which is weird because he runs his mouth like no other.
