Ok…..I am still bitter about us passing up on the guy (Zach Edey) I pleaded and pleaded for on this board. At a minimum, I still thought that Reed would be better than the legendary Aaron Holiday. That’s certainly not the case and won’t be for some time (if ever). Folks, he is a terrible defender, lacks (or has no) offensive aggression, and we are going into January and he’s had a total of three free throws for the season. Maybe someday he turns into Curry, but as I’ve said previously I would take him being the next Steve Kerr at this point. Credit to coach Udoka for recognizing quickly that he sucked tonight and pulling him off the court. Amazing that a kid who fears shooting was taken as a shooter with the third overall pick in the draft.
Hey man thanks for the thread I know it doesn't seem like much but it really means a lot to me right now
Looked great in Summer League. Now can’t even take a dribble without looking like Jerry Lin in the playoffs. It’s all in his head. Hopefully we send him to the G-League before he permanently becomes Ben Simmons.
I’m sure this thread isn’t an overreaction or anything… (I’m being sarcastic, I think it’s an overreaction)
From day one, I said people need to be patient. Those who thought he could be a candidate for ROY after his great summer league showing were always too optimistic in the short term. I remain highly optimistic in the longer term. Mark Price, Steve Nash, John Stockton like career trajectory. None of these guys set the world on fire in their rookie seasons. That said, let him spend some time in the G league eventually to get his confidence back. He will flash his talent a few times later in the season, and his ridiculously low numbers will at least somewhat bounce back up.
Meh ..... 28 games on limited minutes. I mean some of you are willing to give Jalen 4-5-6 years .... the least you can do is give Reed half a season.
More like he has less and less star potential than bust potential to me..... A midget whitey guy with a shot....well...if he pops with the shot, everything is forgiven. All he needs to do is finding his shot.....not hard....and he has like 9-10+ million secured.
I never had expectations for white guys so that worked for me. Parsons was a huge find admittedly he was old...lol ......in the later stages of draft. Parsons also balled immediately. 45% FG 34% from 3. --- also 5 rebounds per game, 2 assists per game, 1.2 steals per game. Almost 10 ppg. 9th in ROY voting.....before Kemba, Marshon Brooks after Kyrie, Kawhi, Rubio, Faried, Klay Thompson and Isaiah Thomas. In 29 minutes.
Jalen would have flashes here and there thats why he got 4 yrs. If he was averaging 3 ppg he wouldnt last a year here.
What if he never flashes his talent even once the whole season? If you told me he would have only 3 fts in 28 games while averaging 11 mins I would have said that was impossible...
We had folks hyping reed up to replace green from the get go. Man has shown the least amount of potential out of the 4 top picks (amen, Smith, Green) rookie season. Like I'm all for being patient but at least the others had performance that warrants the hype. Just send him down to the g league cause he's not doing much
Won't give up on a rookie that has limited minutes and looks like his confidence is shot. But I was yelling last night that he should not be on the court. Send him to the G-league to give him time to develop. We don't need him at the moment and it isn't doing him any favors putting him in last night.
He needs 2 and half seasons to develop. Pickup games in the off-season will be beneficial. Headlines will be overblown #3 pick sent down to the G League. Rockets are avoiding that. Jabari Smith was overmatched his Rookie Year. Still gave him playing time.
