The guy who was 4% above the league is better (to me) than the guy 6% below. Team wins are irrelevant unless you believe jalen is the one driving the wins.
Jalen Green under similar situation 2 years younger at age 20 with no expectations to try on defense averaged 22 ppg on 55% ts. You don't think two more seasons with no pressure to improve and try on defense and being allowed to "cook", Jalen Green couldn't average 25+ ppg on 20 win teams? You understand the law of thermodynamics right? Finite energy? How would Booker look like at age 21-22 under a Ime coached team where you immediately get benched if you aren't putting max effort on defense? You think he's scoring on that efficiency at that volume? You kidding yourself if you think so.
Jalen’s efficiency this season is now the 2nd best of his career. Jalen is also the least important and worst defender of the main guys who play, you’re acting like he’s always guarding the best player or something. He’s your guy so nothing will ever convince you otherwise, which is fine.
why do you have to "guard the best player"? Do you watch games? This team switches almost every defensive possession. Jalen Green gets switched on to ball handlers all the time. The baseline level of defense and attention to detail like timely switching to avoid things like mismatches requires significantly more effort than lollygagging on a 20 win team. There is a reason why all our self creating offensive talent(FVV, Sengun, Green) have poor efficiency. Its because Ime doesn't buy into the philosophy that high usage offensive players "take breaks" on defense. This team's defense is a chain linked fence that doesn't allow for a weak link. Weak link gets benched.
All you Jaters should keep up the great work. I'm starting to think he hears it. Some come on Jaters!! Get to Jatin!! Jate! Jate! Jate!
I don’t look at any of the data that you people do. I just use the eyeball test. He is so much better than he was two years ago. The defense, the finishing at the rim and passing all stand out as things that are just way better. And while I don’t think he’s the most intelligent person in the world I think he is a great teammate, and he is certainly not a selfish player. I think part of these dips in his productivity are directly tied to the fact that he doesn’t mind having some games mixed in there where he doesn’t take a lot of shots. My biggest gripe Yes, I want him going to the basket more. I think that the refereeing on him right now is absolutely atrocious and he should be getting far more calls, but he should also push the issue more. I Think we would benefit in seeing more Green/Sengun PnR and more Amen/Green lineups. I still think that the needle is on the way up and he has a long runway in front of him to continue to develop.
Excited to see Amen and Green on the court together (brooks out tonight). Team's two best and most deadly transition players. Will shift the average pace of the team upwards. Brooks has been amazing and is an excellent player but one of his weaknesses is that he's slow and one of our worst players in transition and at high pace. Wolves are starting Randle, Gobert and McDaniels so they have their own shooting issues. Not worried about our shooting tonight. However, the paint will be even more packed than usual so speed is going to be important in finding a way to get to the rim more than them.
Your word in the Lord's ear......great basketballer with great handles that won the Minny game....oh wait. That was someone named Edwards. Never mind then.
Imagine how amazingly good this team would be with a competent SG. Not even a great one, just a plain old competent one. It's going to utterly embarrassing watching Jalen Green in the playoffs. He is going to absolutely destroy any slight trade value he has.
Nevermind Jalen Green was +6 and Sengun was a minus 6 Losing by 1 point and Reed Sheppard was -6. Can we stop playing him now?
Green has the mixed package of great scoring and the worst handles/dribbles I have seen during crunch time for a socalled upcoming star. And he has some of the worst games against Top teams. Earth shattering and defining flaws.
I actually do think we win this game if we don't play Reed at all. It's been clear for a while that Holiday is much better, and any Reed minutes are just an effort to get him NBA experience at the expense of winning. I think it probably cost us tonight.
Imagine if both Terror twins were injured, they are gaining so many possessions for Jalen Green. Without them Green would look even more pedestrian.
Sheppard is clearly not ready for the NBA. I don't need 65 games to see this. 1) He is not a good shooter on the move 2) He rushes his shot when stationary and defenders are in the area (doesn't have an accurate quick release) 3) Only good when he is left wide open and he seems to be sped up during those shots. 4) Undersized vs NBA competition 5) Tends to be a little slow around NBA competition (hands are quick;but not feet) Only #3 can be corrected during competition vs the best in the world (NBA)
Without them everyone on the team looks pedestrian. I put Reeko on ignore because I said Rockets would be top 10 in defense when Tari rejoins Jabari and he was balking at that. Well Tari came back last year and I predicted (in preseason) #9 in defense; we finished #9 Adding experience to Amen has us even higher near the top.
This is when Jalen goes up to Ime and lets him know - never ever ever will the Rockets have a last possession and he’s not on the court He also needs to put FVV in his place this team needs a hierarchy - Jalen / Alpi - Amen / Bari … then FVV /Dillion etc etc
@daywalker02 Keep in mind Udoka took Green out of the game with one minute left and the score Rockets 111 and T-Wolves 108. Kinda silly to blame Green for giving up the lead and game winner. That's on those on the court. Green was +6 for the game. 50% from 3 (3-6) providing spacing.
