Brown getting fired is big news. If Fox did pull his franchise player card (to get Brown fired), this makes me recaliburate the pro/con list of getting him. His reputation is being very coachable; so this is a turn from the norm.

Yeah, Sacramento is in shambles. Mike Brown being fired over a diva that didn't want to take accountability should crush his value. He is not worth a super max on a championship team, maybe a team that wants to tread in mediocrity. I would treat a trade for Fox as a rental, not giving up anything more than Reed and our own picks at this point. The Suns, Mavs, and BKN picks i'd rather keep or trade for a better fit. Based on what Mike Brown said, Fox does not even seem like an Ime guy.

Main point is that if fox wants to be here it can happen. He’s frustrated for sure and probably doesn’t know what he wants. Make him beg and then we’ll think about it…

Fox is in trade rumors primarily because of the upcoming new contract, which will be a 30% or 35% max.

Signing a guard who’s not a top 10 player to a full max third contract has been invariably bad. Look at the list. It’s a murderer’s row of trainwrecks. Here are all of them since 2016:

    Jamal Murray 2024 - disaster
    Devin Booker 2023 - tbd
    Bradley Beal 2022 - disaster
    Zach LaVine 2022 - disaster
    Kyrie Irving 2019 - disaster
    Kemba Walker 2019 - disaster
    John Wall 2017 - disaster

I would guess it’s not just guards, any player who’s in the 20-30 range and makes 30-35% of the cap is a disaster, though guards make it look worse.

Fox is 100% looking for a supermax. Not sure that's what I would want to do for a guy that's kinda topped out at a tier 2 point guard. Here's an interesting connection though... he's in tight with Adebayo. Maybe you could sneak him outta Miami for Sengun? And try to make playoff runs with lineup something like Fox-Jalen-Amen-Jabari-Adebayo?

    FVV, Reed for Fox.
Sengun, Tari, Cam, picks for Adebayo

idk, seems like a big gamble for a lineup that might, MIGHT make a WCF

We are 20-9, there is no need to blow it up.

The offense is putrid because the two highest volume shooters can't shoot.

FVV struggles to finish at the rim and the midrange all while shooting a career low from 3.

Jalen can't shoot from anywhere outside of 3 feet .... with any kind of consistency.

    They both need to go.

I think this team has the talent at the 3-4-5 spots to contend sooner than later - the guard play is holding them back from being a top team.

Brooks, Tari, Amen, Cam, Jabari & Sengun are a solid group.

I had to Google that up. I've never seen him play like a true pg. I would rather keep Jalen and FVV.

Not sure who Kings will pick for an interim coach. Could be one of the assistants: Doug Christie or Jay Triano maybe.

But as far as Fox is concerned, one cookie crumb to follow is what Kings organization will do to assistant: Luke Loucks, who is close to Fox. For example, if Luke is gone; then likely Fox could be traded.

Current crop of assistants could be safe this year; if a brand new head coach comes in next summer. And usually that coach will bring in his own assistants. But Doug has been waiting in the wings for a long time.

At this point I’ll settle for any really good player that isn’t Fred or Jalen. The backcourt is so glaringly weak.

Fred needs to give back some money.

He said the opposite (regarding supermax/money) only recently on a podcast so I think you're wrong.

I was on the Booker bandwagon at one point, but I've really cooled on that idea. He's a career 35% shooter from 3 .... which isn't even league average (36% this season) and he's at .345 for this season.

That aint a whole lot better than the dude he'd replace ..... and he's a terrible defender on a supermax contract.
He's not creating a lot of shots for himself or others, 54% of his makes are assisted. Only 11% of his shots are at the rim on a team with 4 dudes shooting better than 40% and two more 39% from three - Jalen doubles that on a team that ranks 28th in 3 point shooting with no player shooting higher than .384 from 3,

He's a good not great player and needs guys around him to create shots and cover for his mediocre at best defense.

Just not a guy I want to dedicate 35% of the cap to.
