Even if he made a couple shots tonight he would still have looked absolutely horrible. His defense was bad and he looked completely scared and unsure of everything. If he was bricking shots but running to get open for shots, busting his ass on defense, hustling for boards, and so on then there would be something to look at positively. There is none of that. He looks like he's trying to hide on offense and he has no chemistry with anyone on the court. His teammates seem to be almost dismissive of him. His defense looks fundamentally bad at times. It isn't even a quickness thing. He gets out of position mainly because he will gamble and can't recover. He doesn't do the small things. Sure he can get deflections and blocks but it doesn't matter if he's getting blown by all the time. He clearly overthinking everything, but even with that he has fundamental issues with his game. Oh and over the past month he has a 13.6% FG% or 6 FG made out of 44 FG attempts. I had to add that up a few times because it blew me away. He needed to be sent down 2 weeks ago.
I think Reed is going to be fine but he needs an extensive stretch in the G-League to get his head straightened out.
As someone who likes Reed and was originally against G league for him, it’s time… last 2 games: 37 minutes 4 points 1/15 shooting 1/10 from 3 Say what you will about his size, athleticism, etc… he’s definitely a better shooter than that, so it’s likely mental. Let him get down there and be the man (like Cam), give him a couple weeks, bring him back up. He’s lost right now.
The shooting has been terrible but I see him make odd plays all the time that tell me he's just not processing the game at nba speed yet. He needs to go down to the g league to get acclimated to the speed. At this point I wonder if they just don't want tank his value further by sending him to the g league in case he ends up as part of a big trade before the trade deadline.
He should have been sent to GLeague from the start. Rox just threw him to the wolves and it destroyed his confidence and even messed up his shooting form.

Reed clearly isn't going to be afforded the same leeway Jalen got for three years with the fans by the looks of it.
There was a war on him in Year 1, he had 40 points against the Hawks but every veteran was giving him the ball on 90% of possessions.
By Fred's third year he was playing good basketball. I'd say Reed will have the same type of trajectory. But no one likes to wait through those years.
JG was on the rookie 1st team of course he should get more leeway. RS on his way to the rookie bust team along with Anthony Bennett unless he dramatically improves in the second half.
Dude is in his head like Jeremy Lin + Luther Head in the playoffs. Not sure why we haven’t sent him to the G-League yet.
