DeMeco Ryans takes blame and says team didn't execute @ROCKSS “It was just lack of execution. If we want to beat a good team like that, you have to execute. We didn't execute well. Credit to the Ravens. Really good football team. They came out, they played really well today. Obviously we did not.” Defensive end Danielle Hunter seemed to agree with Ryans' accountability. Hunter said the reason for the Texans’ struggles stemmed from their preparation, which in turn didn’t put them in a place to execute. “They’re great football players,” Hunter said. “Lamar is a dual threat. Derrick Henry, he’s the best of the best for his position. So I feel like the biggest thing we could do was just game plan better.” A better game plan was a common thread among Hunter’s answers. Along with Houston being out-game planned, a common reason for the ineptitude was a lack of energy. Hunter, Anderson and To’oTo’o all mentioned the team felt lethargic pregame and that carried over into their play. But a nationally televised game on Christmas Day should have created excitement. Coming against a Ravens team that knocked Houston out of the playoffs last season should have bred ferocity. Instead, there was sluggishness. That confused To’oTo’o. “I have no idea, I really don’t,” To’oTo’o said when asked the reason for the energy deficiency. “But that energy just wasn’t there. We’ve got to pick it up. This is the most critical time of football, and we’ve got to play our best ball right now.” Ryans’ term “execution” has become a buzzword this season, and it’s been said with a negative connotation more often than a positive one down the stretch. That’s begun to wear on the Texans' players, who have to answer why they can’t make the plays they need to time and time again. “It sucks that we have to just keep on talking about the same thing week in week out with execution and having attention to detail,” Anderson said. “That's really all it is. It's not like a it's not a lack of effort, it's not a lack of want to. It's just we’ve got to find a way to stop making these simple mistakes.”
This sums it up. The coaching is below par, and opposing teams know this. They will continue to exploit all weaknesses. Also, I think some of the vets on the Texans know it as well. Because Demeco is such a nice guy, it is going to be very hard for management and ownership to address the central problem. Demeco is in major denial. He keeps repeating "jargon" instead of admitting the problems. CJ is clearly traumatized. Dell's gruesome injury has added to his despair. One and done is on the agenda. The off season which will begin shortly is going to be a doozy.
No words. Not a single redeeming take away from that game. That one play in the first half, Nico had his man beat on the right side sideline and cj overthrew him by a mile. a throw he made 9/10 times last year.. my 90 year old grandpa was even like "wtf is he looking at?" Lol this off season they need to clean house. Esp the coaching staff. And as everyone has mentioned cj needs to stay outta the damn limelight. Put in work. No more excuses.
What a complete debacle. Exposes everything that is wrong with this franchise from the top to the bottom. Lame duck team. If somebody offered me a 1st round pick for CJ today I would take it and here is why --- you simply cant have a complete dud athlete at the most important position on the field. The only way it works is like the Goff situation in Detroit where the offensive side is so ridiculously loaded that you can draw up whatever you want. With most of the other contenders you have to prepare for off platform playmaking and its just such an obstacle to not have a guy who can AT LEAST get you some first downs with his legs and have a semblance of pocket presence and then have to be killed by just that type of player on the other side of the ball. If you want CJ to be 'that guy' you will need a top 5 offensive line, a stable of playmakers at WR/RB/TE so that it masks shortcomings from the OC (Ben Johnson is not some savant coach) and that will take YEARS. Such a bummer.
The Texans should do everyone a favor and refund game day tickets for the way they "game planned" for the Ravens. Complete and utter failure of professional football players. Offense remains offensive. Defense thoroughly got their ass handed to them. Imagine getting wrecked by the Ravens 3 straight games(last years 2, and yesterday) and NOT game planning better. All of this stems from a lack of accountability starting at the OLine (It doesn't matter, but the OLine coach Strausser should be fired today. Period.). Next CJ has had a major regression (who can blame him getting crushed week in and week out). I can't believe how badly Slowik was wanted last offseason... Only to see this years train wreck. Prior to yesterday, I didnt think the Texans were good enough to beat the Ravens. Now, i believe they arent good enough to beat any playoff team. This team is 1 and done. They will get embarrassed by the Steelers or any other wildcard AFC team (and their fans will come and laugh up in our stadium). Texans are incredibly lucky to be in a division with terrible mgmt/avg coaching. Its the only reason they have a shot every year. Major changes better happen this offseason as I hate to see this **** franchise ruin another QBs career.

Totally agree with this. It sucks what happened to Tank, but Stroud has got to get his head right. If he can't, then the Texans have major problems.
Tried to tell you the Rockets would win a championship before the Texans a couple weeks back and you argued with me saying this years Texans were legit SB contenders. Looks like you’re finally seeing clearly now. If the Texans are going to win a SB, IMO it needs to be before CJ gets paid. Fortunately the Texans division looks like it will still be dog **** the next couple years but having to play a first place schedule again next year probably locks them into a similar position as this season. Having to go win two road games against KC, Baltimore, and/or Buffalo to even make the SB is such a tough task.
Some of the takes are so over the top. Fire Meco. Trade Seven. No appreciation for the adversity that comes in growth and progress. Winning is hard. Soak in the losing and get ready for the post season which will start with the Chargers.
The Steelers would rather play the Texans than the Chargers. The Chargers would rather play the Texans than the Steelers.
