Foxx should change his team, no matter if he lands here or not.

And get better at Free throw shooting.

I highly doubt Fox is even an option.

I think the Spurs and a few other teams are in a situation where they will easily overpay kind of like Minnesota with the insane Rudy Gobert trade. So I wouldn’t be too worried about it unless we hear Stone is offering something stupid for him like all our draft picks and three young players.

I think the Spurs start tanking pretty soon. They probably have good reason to believe the NBA will gift them a top 2 pick. They want Wemby to be the new face of the NBA.

As each day passes I think I'd rather keep trying to develop Amen into a point

Doesn’t matter if reed busts or not, it’s not about him. If you are trading for fox, you are committing to resigning him. That is my concern. Ya he’s fine next season, but after that he will be on a 30% max for his age 30-34 seasons, as a small guard who can’t shoot or defend. If we could get him for nothing, and commit to letting him walk after next season, then i would be ok with it.

I don’t care so much about next season, we’re not contenders next season. My guess is fvv gets resigned to a cheaper long term deal, maybe 3/90. What do you do with fox after next season? It will take a fair bit of assets to trade for him, so you probably don’t let him walk do you?

I dunno. If it was me I don’t care how young he is, I would want to win now with Wemby now if I could. I just don’t trust his frame to be able to stay healthy and I wouldn’t want to waste a year especially with the West as wide open as it is.

Now I do think they need more than just an all star PG. They need to make several deals to get veterans like we did with Brooks and FVV. But they still look like they could easily make the play in and the Spurs have to know that the NBA can’t wait to put them on tv and market them like crazy.

If only. If they would take Jalen in any deal as the center piece the Rockets would be over joyed.

    Dream scenario would be:
    Jalen Green + Landale or Adams + 1 or 2 Future 1sts
    (Sadly, that wouldn't cut it.)

Then renegotiate FVV extension in the off-season or let him walk.

    Renegotiated FVV deal:

    PG - FVV / Sheppard
    SG - Fox / Whitmore
    SF - Brooks / Thompson
PF - Smith Jr. / Eason
    ..C - Sengun / Adams or Landale

    FVV removed:
    PG - Amen / Sheppard
    SG - Fox / Whitmore
    SF - Brooks / (Eason / Whitmore)
PF - Smith Jr. / Eason
    ..C - Sengun / Adams or Landale

That's fair. Hoping they were just bad luck injuries. At least he doesn't have any chronic issues

Now what if we could do this and then trade Green, Brooks, and remaining picks/swaps for Booker in the summer?

    Fox
    Booker
    Amen
    Bari
    Sengun

    Now that would be amazing…

I think the trick to having a winning team on the offensive end is having a player at every position who has to be double teamed or you're screwed. That and they have to be excellent at moving the ball out of a trap. On the defensive end. . . . . Exactly what we already have.

This is the kind of deal I want to see. I can’t believe there are so many rockets fans that want to use most of our assets to add another guard that can’t shoot and will take up close to 30% of our cap.

Jalen, maybe the 25’ Suns pick for Fox? Sure. But if it’s multiple picks and prospects, no way.

I'm in agreement but sadly Jalen has built a rep around the league as an inconsistent chucker. Everyone has the same data nowadays so there is no b.s.ing anyone on how good he is. Fox is considered a much better player so you'd have to either package FVV or sweeten the deal with 1st Rnd picks (which we have plenty of)

Well - this is kind of what happens when your team has the #2, #3, #4, #3 picks over a four year span and fail to draft a franchise player.

So the Rockets are left trying to get a star in trade - while competing against OKC and SA for the same “star players”… which requires a star wanting to come to the Rockets and a team wanting to trade said star to Houston.

It is possible that Fox is as good as it gets for the Rockets in a trade.

Drafting and developing a franchise player is HUGE and Stone and Tilly failed to do either so far.

I agree, but we know with 100% certainty that fox is not that guy. Houston is also more of a destination than okc or the spurs, plus the spurs have ONLY picks, no young guys, and with Atlanta not looking bad those picks are pretty meh. Getting fox is basically giving up on this era and i’m not ready to do that yet.

Spurs have Wemby and OKC is better than the Rockets and have more assets - so I am not so certain the Rockets will be the destination of choice.

As for Fox - I think he is capable of being better than he has shown but he has warts - but that’s likely the type of guys available.
