But you’re not offering the best rockets young guys, and you’re not offering picks. There’s no offer the rockets could make that the wolves would entertain until ant specifically asked out, so there’s nothing to talk about now. If he does ask out though something around amen, reed, tari, and all picks would be a reasonable starting point.
I think Jalen and Bari are better players and have more upside than the best players SA or OKC would offer. Jalen and Bari are better players right now and still have upside to grow. Jalen > Castle Bari > Sochan Jalen is a better prospect than Wallace. Bari fits a rebuild timeline better than Hartenstien. Jalen > Wallace Bari > Hartenstien
Jalen has negative value, again, you need to be realistic. If we offer jalen for castle or for wallace those teams would laugh before hanging up.
Agree to disagree there. Wallace and Castle are still on rookie contracts which might make them more desirable at this moment. But Jalen is the better player right now and is on a team friendly rookie extension.
Yeah with the way he's shooting he's worth it though. Easy 5 FRP's if not more and I would pay that to pair Edwards with Sengun.
How is it team friendly? he's making 20% of the cap starting next season and has a player option, and he's been flat out awful for going on 4 years now. He's maybe not HORRIBLE salary filler but there's no way he's a positive.
Again, agree to disagree here. I don’t think Jalen has been flat out awful at all. 2 of the 4 seasons were playing for a flat out awful coach. He’s shown improvement the past 2 seasons and has bought into a team first, winning system. I think Jalen and his contract would be attractive to a rebuilding team.
We're talking about the same jalen green who has a negative OBPM, negative DBPM, negative overall BPM, and a TS that's 8% below league average?
I feel like our best chance to acquire a 20-something player who can actually help us right now might be to try and facilitate a Jimmy Butler trade out of Miami to a veteran team with a few years' window at winning a ring. I'd be looking at teams where things aren't working out as well as their front office may have hoped, and they're right around .500 ball, probably chomping at the bit to make a splashy trade. This could be in the form of sending out a pick and some salary filler to just pick up a bench piece, or it could be to acquire a high-end starter or even a true all-star (long shot at the last one). Teams that come to mind: 76ers (Maxey) Nuggets (Murray, Porter Jr) Lakers (Reaves, Hachimura) Suns (Booker, Tyus Jones, Grayson Allen) Bucks (Portis, Trent Jr, A.J. Green) Kings (Fox, Monk, Huerter) Something to keep an eye on in the next month and a half.
If you get rid of Amen you are taking away your home grown superstar. FVV as an expiring, Jalen as a gamble to become great, Tari as a proven role player plus all the Phoenix picks and most of ours. If Ant is available that would trump any other offer. Amen, Ant, Brooks, Jabari, Sengun is a championship level team. You would have to re-build the bench but would have a start with Reed and Cam.
The Ant thing is a pipe dream, it’s not even worth discussing till AT LEAST next trade deadline. Jokic is my top target, if he gets pissed enough at his garbage organization he could ask out. Something like alpi, tari, brooks, 5-6 firsts could start a discussion.
Jokic's a pipe dream too, but as a hypothetical I'd consider your trade, but try to save Tari or Brooks. Amen, Jalen, Brooks, Jabari, and Jokic would contend for 5 years, although Brooks would have to be substituded out. Can't imagine Jokic wanting out. He doesn't love basketball as much as other superstars. He said it's just a job. I can't imagine leaving a city like Denver for Houston for basketball reasons.
LOL the same guy who thinks Sheppard is better than freaking De Arron Fox thinks JG has negative value why am I not surprised.
Rox are rolling, we are winning so sorry to all the arm chair GMs Stone is standing pat till the offseason. If we flame out in the playoffs I can see Rox doing panic trades including dumping Jalen but if we play great Stone will prob run it back including keeping FVV on his big deal. It is what it is.
Who said sheppard is better than fox? I didn’t see that but that’s crazy. I said i don’t want fox on the team under any circumstances, unless there’s a commitment to let him walk.
The only reason for picking up Fred's option would be for trade purposes. If the team really wanted to keep him, I suspect they would do something similar to what Tate did, where we give him generous multi-year extension, such as 2 year 70 million, or 3 year 90 million. If he wants to test the FA market after shooting a career low, let him.
At this moment we can get Vucevic and filler for Landale, expiring contracts and 2nd rounders. Vucevic off the bench would be the biggest improvement in spacing - and therefore in offense - we can generate without trading a FRP. Helps Sengun rest. Helps us go double big. Helps Amen/Green/Tari/Cam slash. You will not get this amount of spacing by acquiring a shooter at the 1/2. Feel like we can easily come up with 2 units who go strong offensively with this small an addition. Vucevic has been the starting C of a top 5 defense in the past, I'm sure he won't look too bad in a system designed for Sengun. He can at least rely on his height. 1st unit (if it ain't broke don't fix it) Sengun Jabari Brooks/Amen Green FVV 2nd unit (shooting boost - most pace and space) Vucevic Jabari/Tari Amen >> will feast Green Sheppard/Holiday 3rd unit (big bullies halfcourt game) Sengun Vucevic Tari Brooks FVV Come on.
