Amen’s 3 pt percentage is about the same as Ja’s. Is Ja a “role player?” I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again — the term “role player” is grossly misused in this board.
3P% doesn't determine Star vs Role player.....not by itself. Ja Morant carries that team and is the main focal point. Team is in shambles without him. Amen is many shades of grey beneath that at the moment. Therefore, "Role Player status" meaning he serves a role. Ja serves a role.....it's Star Player
Amen's usage as an offensive player is holding him back. He is not playing enough and when he does most of the time FVV is in the game. The Rockets should be giving him every opportunity to lead the offense to prepare him for next year and to educate theirselves on what to do in the off-season. Being the 6th seed or better, would be a lot of fun, but it should not be the goal if it sets back our ability to be a contender next year or evaluate our young core. FVV needs to sit before the year is out for both Amen and Jalen's development or in the case of Jalen whether he should be traded or not.
He hasn't been given the chance to the lead the team. He might be several shades below that now, but he needs to be prepared to be that next year. If FVV is brought back, we will be mediocre again. Amen needs lots of time leading the offense without FVV on the floor, regardless of whether it costs us a few games here and there. I actually think it might win us a few more games than it loses us, but that's just me.
I think this is obvious to anyone that has ever seen a transcendent talent before. Very rare combination of gifts and the fact that he's already improved his outside shot in 1.5 seasons. Best perimeter defender in the league. Can guard 1-5 basically. Unexplored playmaking still. Once he really gets going and teams can't just collapse Sengun anymore and he can kick out to a developed Reed and Jabari it's going to be crazy.
of course you can. I am only curious how much the two things correlate. @AroundTheWorld knows what’s up that’s why he is liking your post lol
I don't disagree, but often there are apprenticeship levels. Besides poor 3-pt shooting there is : Court vision Know your plays and where your teammates belong Knowing opponents Knowing opponents schemes Game management/scenarios FT's (Dwight Howard & Shaq were stars but with analytics they get targeted down the stretch now) As far as pecking order goes, the Celtics had to sort things out to get as efficient as they are now. All three of Tatum, Brown and Marcus Smart wanted to be the Alpha. When Udoka set the table.....the rest fell into place. Notice that Marcus Smart is not with them anymore. That's because their salaries start to grow heavily. Rockets will have to sort out things as Jabari, Tari, Amen, Whitmore will also want to get paid.
My politics are the opposite of what you stated, and Sengun is my favorite current Rockets player. I also think Amen Thompson is great. What’s your point?
Ultimately it will come down if he can get you buckets as the primary scorer. Every superstar these days is someone you can toss the ball to in ISO situations and expect them to score. Whether Amen can do that remains to be seen.
Same here - I’m practically a communist and I think Sengun is our best player. I also love Amen and could see him becoming the top guy if his shot becomes more consistent.
LOL, great post. Pelibumpkus needs to go to the d&d and discuss his idiocy with all the other idiots there. Everybody should take their dumbass political takes out of the basketball forum. If you want to talk politics go to a political forum. If you want to talk basketball stay here.
