The gap between fred and fox is not very big. Fox has been better this season, but again he can't shoot and doesn't defend. FVV is a big part of our defense, so taking him away will hurt a good bit.

I'm not even a HUGE fan of the booker idea, because he's also someone who cannot be the best player on a great team. However, going from jalen (who sucks) to booker is a MASSIVE upgrade, so it's understandable.

For sure, i don't want fox on his next contract even if the kings give him to us for free, i think he'll be an albatross.

Sadly, he'd be the 3rd best 3pt shooter in our rotation.

NBA cap is going up by 10% for the next few seasons. If you can get a top 20 guy for 50-some million, that will be a reasonable price in a couple of years.

By that point he won't be as good, he's someone who's good because of his elite athleticism. He can't shoot, so his decline will be swift and earlier then most, similar to westbrook. He also has no chance to be a top 20 player IMO. He's 59th in BPM, 41st in VORP despite having played all 30 games. The cap will also have already gone up by the time he gets extended, since his max won't start till the 26-27 season.

Who's all the uber athletic guys whose game fell off a cliff when they hit 30?

Westbrooks last good season was at age 30. Fox's max deal will be for his age 29-33 seasons (he will turn 30 early is the 1st year of that deal). Fox a guy who can't shoot and doesn't defend, there's no way it won't be an albatross.

Considering the fact that Westbrook was 31 when he was on the Rockets and averaged 27/8/7, I think it’s safe to say you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Wow, I didn't know Westbrook apologists still existed

Westbrook's falloff has nothing to do with athleticism. He's still one of the most athletic players in the league. Teams finally realized that letting Westbrook dominate the ball wasn't a recipe for success.

alright, it is what it is. If we get fox, that will obviously really suck but nothing i can do about it. All we can do is hope!

I’m in the same boat. Not a big fan of Booker or Fox. Neither one is good enough to be a #1 on a championship team but they will have to be paid like one.

If the Rockets got Fox my #1 hope in the trade would be:

    Jalen Green
    Jock Landale
    2 Future 1sts (Their Pick)

(Rockets renegotiate FVV contract after season or let him walk and bump Amen to starting PG)

What I think would more likely happen would be:

    Fred VanVleet
    2 Future 1sts (Their choice)

I think that is more than fair.

Ya i generally agree. Booker would be waaaaaay more of an upgrade because he would replace jalen though, and would give us a chance to be a legit ensemble cast. Starting fvv, booker, amen, jabari, alpi if amen really develops and alpi gets back to being good at offense would be pretty solid.

Stats don’t tell that story very well unless they’re handpicked to make a point.

He's in his second year. Fox is in his 8th. I could only see two of Amen, Fox and Sengun coexisting on a starting 5. Booker fits this team way better.

Westbrook sucked for us regardless of his stats. I can’t believe anybody watching him with us could think otherwise. Talk about nonsense.
