Westbrook is one of the most overrated defenders in NBA history. For 1 1/2 seasons very early in his career (when Ron Adams was an assistant at OKC) was he a plus defender. All of the rest of the time WB does some of the stupidest stuff I've ever seen because he lacks discipline and cannot stay on script. One of his worst habits is "ball watching", which I'm guessing is what happened on the play you describe (which I did not see).
Anthony Edwards says Wolves have no offensive identity, he can't get downhill with 'four people at the rim' "We're not an offensive team," Edwards told reporters after the Timberwolves' 133-107 loss against the New York Knicks. "We're a defensive team, so I don't think there's going to be too much change. I think we just gotta play defense better." Asked about Minnesota's identity on offense, Edwards said: "Yeah, we don't have **** on offense. We don't have no identity. I mean, we know I'm going to shoot a bunch of shots, we know Ju going to shoot a bunch of shots and that's all we know. We don't really know anything else. I mean, it's not on the coaches at all, it's on us. We're out there playing. But we gotta make it easier for each other. Coach has put us in great positions, too, man. We just don't do it." Asked what he wanted to see from the team offensively, Edwards said: "They're not going to like what I say, so I'm just going to keep my answer to myself." Then he laughed. Edwards took some responsibility for Minnesota's lack of ball movement in the second quarter. "I play a part in the no-pass offense," he said. "A lot of us do. And I think that really happens when the lead starts to get out of hand. But we just gotta trust it, you know what I mean?" He lamented, though, that the team isn't spacing the floor well enough. "If you watch the game, it's nothing for me to do when I get downhill," Edwards said. "Everybody wants me to get downhill. I know that's my strength, I get to the rim, lay the ball up, dunk the ball, but I can't do that if it's no lane, it's not open. Every team we play did a great job of sitting in the gaps, [and] when I get to the rim, putting four people at the rim. So I'm sorry, people. There's nothing I can do about going to the hole right now."
Except he's shooting over 40% from 3. Amen and Ant would be one of the best backcourts in the league. If Ime couldn't make that work he would need to be replaced. Of course, it doesn't really matter Ant would have to demand out and at least have Houston as a top destination. I think the odds of Houston winning a bidding war AND Ant wanting them over East or West Coast teams is remote.
he was ball watching as in watching the ball go right by him. He was acting like he was going to get a labron chase down at the buzzer.
He has lost his speed and hop as he ages. He might have been able to block that shot in his prime. Unlike other small guards like CP3 and FVV who use positioning and quick hands to make up for their size disadvantage, Westbrook has always relied on his athleticism.
No disrespect but Fred only has his hands and girth......to work with....as the selected few NBA players who never attempted a dunk shot.
Talking about a dry spell. The Heat scored only 8 points in the 4th. The Magic scored 37 points, completing a comeback after being down by 22 at the start of the 4th.
nba refs tried but clippers win again and bettors for the clippers are destroying the vegas sportsbooks on a pace that needs to be discussed clippers have had at least a 10 point lead in EVERY GAME this season besides 4 of them.. crazy floor raising ability by harden. Just doesnt quite have the gastank to finish of these wins like when he was in his prime.. gets tired more quickly, i like that kpj is starting to play well to take ball handling duties out of hardens hands which drains his legs late in games
I know everyone is interested in getting Fox, and I would be cool with that move but I would almost equally love to make a trade for Malik Monk who seems like a more realistic get. Thing is I would love to move Jalen for him and I don't think the Kings can afford that trade with his salary next year. Green is not going to nab you Fox but could possibly get you Monk.
