I don’t take anything I see in a social media post at face value anymore. I just don’t find them reliable.

It is strange that an “anti-Muslim” grudge would lead such an attack. What is the theory — thst he did it intentionally to make Muslims look bad (sacrificing himself in the process)? That seems far fetched.

Will wait to to learn more. The details I’m seeing so far in this thread don’t add up.

Why is it strange at all.

Out group members who wish to "convert" to the in group often become the most fervent and depraved practitioners of the group they wish to join, in order to demonstrate their bona fides

Like I can think of many many examples, in fact, there's one particular individual on the BBS - from awhile back whose fanatical embrace of anti immigrant sentiment and AfD, Putinism, Orban, the Proud Boys, Musk etc - despite him personally attesting to being a member of all the out groups they want to eliminate - is an *obvious* example of this phenomenon.

But really, stories about thid type of thing go back hundreds or thousands of years, very common in the middle ages for religious concerts to lead pogroms against their own kind.

This **** is no different, and not particularly confusing.

It's like Royce White going from mental health activist to BLM activist to a guy who says Nazis were the good guys and that slavery wasn't so bad

It isn’t really the idea that he would become a far right anti-Muslim extremist that I find difficult to believe. I just think that such a person would go to great lengths to distance himself from Islamists in the country. And if he was to carry out a terror attack, he would want to send a message that is clear about where his allegiances lie. Now, the anti-immigrant faction thinks he is just another one of the “undesirables”.

Look at Elon Musk himself - is this guy ever unambiguously clear about anything? He's a walking bundle of absurd contradictions. I don't even need to enumerate them.

Why would we expect our meme-followers to have a level of moral clarity their meme overlords don't? The 9/11 hijackers went to strip clubs. The GOP that makes up fictional QAnon trafficking rings is absolutely loaded with real life child molester after child molester.

The examples go on and on ad nauseum - it's a grift combined with mental illness all the way down, and the in-group subsequently trying o disclaim the converso is just another part of it

I find the AfD distasteful. Unfortunately, all the other parties are one socialist bloc at this point, just like they were in East Germany - Merkel is responsible for this.

Of course it was: reason being to keep cars out of the city center. Same things were there 10 years before that, the first time I was there.
