No it doesn't. Booker is a much better player than Fox and someone that will be part of our contending team, although I would much rather have Ant or Lamelo than either one of them. You guys are severely overrating Fox and underrating our trade assets. The second apron is coming and Phoenix is absolutely stuck thanks to the idiotic Beal contract. They are a Durant twisted knee or ankle from being a lottery team.
Amen is FVV's replacement. He is our future Pg/combo guard. Our other PG/combo guard will probably be Booker, but could also be Jalen, Cam, Lamello, Ant, or Trey. Fox does not fit on this team other than a straight replacement for Jalen if he doesn't improve with Amen as a running mate.
He solves some. He can shoot. We can add a few other shooters as pieces. He's also our star. Let's be honest Jabari is a disappointment and Jalen isn't it. I think a two man game between Sengun and Booker would be great. We have to do something. Can't be stuck in mediocrity forever like we were in the Francis era
Record says they are stuck around Seed 2-6.....which is actually Playoff contender level and not Mediocrity.
He's been good from 3 lately, when he's hot he's hot. He shot 36 percent last year. Ain't like FVV shoots a good percentage from 3. (He can shoot us out the game)
I think our record is fools gold. We're hood for the regular season but I don't see it in the Playoffs. We're also beating bad teams. We need a star. If you don't think Booker is it that's certainly a conversation but outside of Alpi we are a team full of role players.
He's not a shooter. He's a much better version of Jalen. Doesn't fix our problem and it would cost a ton to get him. I don't care too much about draft picks anymore because they are drafting kids who aren't ready but I don't want to give up 4 for Fox which is probably what it takes
Ime Udoka is in his 3rd season as a head coach (a coach that overachieves) ....the list of young stars he worked with is not long. I cannot say for sure who fits in his system and who do not, I only know that his Offense is very one sided. Booker and Fox are stop gaps for me honestly until a younger star around the age of Wemby comes along. They are not that old, you can get 5-6 years out of them. Both do not strike me as very good defenders, Ime can help there.
He did well with Tatum and Brown. Our offense needs a lot of help. I think it's because we lack shooting to space the floor. Our defense is really good and that's how we're winning games. I think Booker can be more because he adds what we lack. You're right that they're both bad defenders. Both have the ability though to be good. Ime fixed Jalen Flagg would be nice but obviously we don't have a shot at him
I'm not expecting them to make noise in the playoffs this year. This team is still young, and We should see them play in the post season, before making any bigger moves. I think the org is taking that approach, and it's the right one IMO. We ride out the season as constructed (perhaps We do some smaller trades to upgrade the back up 5 or get some shooting), get a good look at our young core in the playoffs, and make decisions from there. No need for Fox or Booker yet. We have to wait until JG's contract is tradeable and then go after someone big. We have the resources to do whatever We want, but We need to spend them wisely. As long as Alpi, Amen, Bari and Tari are trending upwards, I'm fine with the rest. I'd rather wait a year or two, and try and get Ant if Minny falls apart, than making rushed decisions this year.
Improving from Mediocrity would not be even that difficult. It is more difficult to improve from being good to excellent and supreme.
Fox has never been a good 3 pt shooter. He didn’t shoot many 3s early in his career. Shot .372 second on 2.9 attempts in 2nd year. And last year shooting over .362. He is back to shooting .333 and that is around his career avg for 8 years in the league. That’s also around what Jalen shoots.
Ya I'm not sure Fox would be much of a shooting upgrade. Fox definitely is a far more refined playmaker and ball handler than Jalen and that is where the upgrade would be. But again he's 27. And like Jalen, his elite attribute is agility and speed which will start to diminish in a couple of years so we will get Fox with a short prime window on a squad full of youngsters trying to build a long term contender.
Fox was one of those borderline stars for many years before being selected as an All Star once his teams got better much like Book. People forget these guys weren’t perfect and still aren’t. Fox wasn’t a 3 pt threat. He had a nice mid range and lethal dribble drive. Couldn’t shoot 3’s or FT’s and commits a lot of TO’s. He refined his game thru the years and he makes his money going to the paint as he’s one of the best in the league
Flagg is an unproven rookie. why would we want to implement and develop another rookie when this team is looking to build continuity and go deep into the playoffs?
Their games are not alike. Fox is a combo guard type and played that role at Kentucky as their pg/scoring guard. That’s why he gets assists and crafty in the paint or finding open players around the court. Yes i agree he isn’t a shooter and doesn’t solve our issues and creates a ball sharing touch issue of paired with Green. If Green is in the deal our SG needs to be able to shoot which we don’t have one.
