They added a second show. But, both shows sold out very quickly. Really wish they would do some kind of tour and come to Houston. Can’t believe this is really happening after all these years.

To make myself sound super-important (ala ATW), a good buddy of mine was the head manager at Threadgill's South for a long time, and the Gourds had a weekly residence there, so I got to hang out with them before/after show from time to time. Offstage they're as cool and fun as their music suggests.

Is the "vortex in Beaumont" just another name for the Gulf Coast Triangle?

we used to fly the gourds out to davos to play a set. also, when i was on vacation and having brunch with noel (or was it liam?) gallagher the gourds came over to our table and did a cover of wonderwall and noel sang along with them.

i cant believe they are playing sams! that place gets packed on a regular saturday night. its going to be nutz up in there.

Never heard of them and yet everyone has. Proof that I’m living in an alternate universe.

Next they’ll tell me there’s no Jiffy peanut butter and that dudes don’t have three testicles.

    Oh sh*t!

My absolute favorite ATX band. Dems Good Beeble is in my regular rotation. I’d do a lot of things to be able to hear All the Labor live again. I will hopefully be at this show.

EDIT: SON OF A b****…already sold out.

Not so much an Alternate Universe, but you are in a Discussion thread that doesn't play to your strengths.

I think that there are topics that you would excel at and some of the people in this thread would struggle with.

    Abso-gotdamn-lutely.

Though I should’ve said it’s a tie between them and Soulhat…who I recently learned are playing the occasional show at Antone’s.

Just looked at the calendar and didn't see 'em, let me know when they're playing.

I also just learned that the Red Not Chili Peppers are a cover band, and I like it.

They just played a week ago there. Didn’t see anything else scheduled.

also feel like we need @Rocketman95 involved.

Thought about him, need to make a call. He only talks to me when he and Big Dave are doing their semi-annual picking up boxes of wine around Fredericksburg

We'd meet at Eaker BBQ (hint, hint, @Rocketman95) and then go to a solid winery outside of town

    *looks around*

I thought this was a Houston-centric website that would rightly assume Houston-centric pop culture knowledge, not Austin-centric pop culture knowledge, as unspoken context.

I guess it is an alternate dimension.
