It proves that this offense does not fit Jalen. Yes, he had a great quarter but does this offense really fit him? Listening to the other JG, Jackson Gatlin, he gave Jalen his props but yet he found away to bringup what most Rocket fans are thinking....WHY CAN'T WE GET THIS JALEN ALL THE TIME?? And its simple, the players around him don't fit. FVV is a half court PG, he prefers the PNR with Alpi. Alpi prefers the ball close to the basket, therefore he's camped out in the paint. Dillon Brooks is not going to pass the ball once he gets it and the one player that does fit Jalen, Jabari is barely involved in the offense himself. Last night, as good as the Rockets looked on offense, was a PERFECT example of the problem. The 1st and 2nd Qtrs, the offense is functioning with Alpi, FVV and Dillon, while Jalen is on the other side of the court standing. Mine you, he is.our.most explosive scorer but he got maybe 5-6 touches. And I'm sure, the conversation at the half was in the locker room was.....LETS SPREAD THE BALL AROUND MORE AND GET JALEN MORE INVOLVE. It's easy to see, Jalen needs to get consistent touches to get a better rhythm, NOT MORE SHOTS, but get more touches to feel apart of the offense.
Stop with the excuses. Jalen's not the elite 3 level scorer we thought he would be when drafted. Putting him in a different offensive system is not going to change that. He's a streaky 3 point shooter with no midrange game. When his 3 point shot isn't falling there's little else he can do offensively.
These games are just teases. A good player would not put these up once every 10-12 games. The difference is that bad players don’t get the opportunity to do so. Nobody else would be running Jalen out there 33 minutes a night, so he would never get the chance to put the these games up on any other team. Jalen Green is Corey Brewer. Move on.
before the season started I was hoping Fred's on ball reps would decrease and Green or Amen would take a much larger role with on ball reps especially Jalen given the fourth year and more refined on ball skills relative to Amen. But that hasn't panned out. Still far too reliant on Fred.
Free Jalen and ship him to Jordan Poole who can deliver him more shots and let him run freely. He is a Wizard for sure. @Jontro
He’s 22. Chill out. Also, the Corey Brewer comparison is absolutely ridiculous. Brewer had one 30+ point game over his career. Jalen has had 41.
No excuses, just facts. If you go back and watch the 1st and 2nd quarters, the offense was strictly FVV, Dillon and Sengun. Jalen was on the opposite side of the court and didn't touch the ball. If he's looked upon to score, he has to touch the ball, correct?
I don't think its about running freely but more about having room to operate and being able to touch the ball consistently enough to produce.
