He needs to feed Jalen Green trill burgers.

I mean this team goes out and brick shots every night and still win, might not be the best shooter, but you give him the ball and he can get a bucket. Which is what this team DESPERATELY needs.

If he was in shape and healthy he wouldn't even be a possibility.

It's a really low risk high reward move so I wouldn't be mad at it.

How is committing max amount of dollars to an often injured star a low risk move?

He hasnt had a healthy year his entire career he is one of the riskiest players in the league. Well maybe him, Embiid or Kawhi one of those 3.

Because his contract is not guaranteed past 2025, so the team that gets him can just not re-sign him and get the cap space he would release.

This is the biggest reason his value is so low and why he's being linked to teams that have no assets like the Lakers.

Jalen can be traded this season.

To make the deal work, essentially you have to make the total salary swap large enough that the difference in Greens incoming and outgoing salary difference is within the 20%+100k and both teams remain below the apron.

His outgoing salary for the Rockets is: $12,483,048
His incoming salary for the new team is: $35,111,111

The larger the total salary going out, the easier it is to reach 120%+100k.

They aren't trading Jalen and we certainly aren't getting Zion

I think someone like the Nuggets would benefit from the toughness and shot creation of Himmy Butler the most......

The Nuggets are a WCF contender right now without guarantee of getting to the Finals......

Butler is the ultimate candidate and better equipped than Westbrook to get them there in the next 1 or 2 years.

The Mavs are another candidate. The Celtics would probably still win but who knows with their injuries.

The apple would be ripe for the picking.

    Houston Rockets

Houston best checks the boxes of financial flexibility, tradable contracts and draft assets of Butler's preferred teams. Rockets GM Rafael Stone, however, said he anticipates no changes to the roster.

"We definitely want this group to be as good as it can be this year and then we'll evaluate things at the end of the year," Stone told SiriusXM radio last week. "But the hope is very much that this core group can lead us to where we want to go and that -- from a transactional perspective -- we're largely done." But what happens if Stone can acquire Butler without giving up any young players? -- Marks

    One trade that works
    Rockets get: Jimmy Butler
Heat get: Steven Adams, Dillon Brooks, Jeff Green, 2027 first-round pick (worse of Brooklyn and Houston), 2029 first-round pick (second-best of Dallas, Houston and Phoenix)

In terms of money, this is the cleanest fit for Miami, which would cut its salary about $6 million this season and even more in 2025-26, when Adams and Green are both free agents. That leaves the Heat with Brooks as a defensive-minded replacement for Butler, plus the two extra first-round picks. Houston would upgrade from Brooks to Butler without giving up any other core players, albeit at the expense of future flexibility. -- Pelton

That wouldn't happen. Tate and Landale instead of Brooks - maybe. But I like having Steven Adams. Would prefer to extend him on a low salary.

A poison pill is one party intentionally agreed to a clause to make a future trade undesirable. Signing an extension isn't a poison pill. It's just a timing thing.

Anyway, I agree with you that it would be hard to trade Jalen this season due to the extension. But crazier things have happened.

Locked On Rockets mentioned Cam Johnson or Zack Lavine as two other trade potential trade targets. I'd take Lavine over Butler.

Basically, I think you gotta get Jalen out of the starting lineup. Who can the Rockets acquire to get Jalen to the bench or off the team? Jalen is crazy talented but he is currently the weakest link and could use a shake-up to energize his career.

I guess "future flexibility" would be the hope of a better deal for two low-round future firsts. If any team in the league can select low-round players and turn them into starters, it's Miami. While they'd like to have more, I doubt anyone would give up anything else.

Just as GS needed someone else to ease the burden on Curry creating shots (and they actually run an offense that generates cheap points), the Rockets need to add someone who can create in one-on-one situations. Asking Green and FVV to get better is a dead-end proposition.

The last thing this young core needs is to hang on to and make future picks.

Butler is the sort of talent that used to take 3 picks and a young player to get. I'd rather cash in at this point so our other young players can see what the second round of the playoff is like.

What do you like about Adams? I feel he was brought in for a half a season of locker room culture and a tradeable contract. I will be shocked if he finishes the season on the team. I think Jock is the superior player right now and playing Adams has hurt in the team in a few instances.

    Brooks + Adams + Tate + 2025 FRP + 2027 FRP (worse) for Himmy

I'd rather do Steven Adams + Jalen Green + Jeff Green + Jock + Tate and the 2025 FRP and some seconds as the final offer. Anything more is an overpay. Dillon Brooks has been great this year, I don't want to get rid of him.

Edit: This doesn't work in the trade machine. I don't want Tomball Jimmy anyway
