Does the UK know that the Stasi and the Gestapo were bad?

E.P.A. Allows California to Ban Sales of New Gas-Powered Cars by 2035
The Trump administration is expected to revoke the program, setting up a legal clash between the state and federal government.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/18/climate/california-ban-new-gasoline-powered-cars.html

    excerpt:

The Biden administration on Wednesday granted California and 11 other states permission to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035, one of the most ambitious climate policies in the United States and beyond.

The widely expected move by the Environmental Protection Agency is one of the last steps that the administration has taken to enact major climate policies before the end of President Biden’s term next month.

President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to revoke that program soon after taking office, part of his pledge to scrap Biden-era climate policies. “California has imposed the most ridiculous car regulations anywhere in the world, with mandates to move to all electric cars,” Mr. Trump has said. “I will terminate that.”

The state, in turn, is expected to fight any revocation, setting up a consequential legal battle with the new administration.

Absolute terror of being called a racist has led authorities in the UK to ignore systematic rape and abuse of children in predominantly immigrant/Muslim communities but they will go hard on old white people tweeting.

What a joke of a society the UK has become.

It's going down the shitter. Big debt. Deepening wealth inequality with anemic growth. Diminishing revenue. Post Brexit pains. Social paralysis with inept ruling governments.

Will take awhile before they figure out how to recover.

Maybe Donny should buy the UK instead for pennies on the dollar and become legit King of the Commonwealth.

Saw this going viral - lady with 100 subscribers receives 440K views in 5 days:

"Britain is really going down the shitter"

    Highlights:

Student loans [talks about high interest student loans]
Healthcare [talks about being designated as *critical* status for a therapist and had to wait 15 months and since she moved in that time couldn't even use the service when it became available - "literally have to have a suicide attempt before the NHS will look after you"]
Wages [Self-described left wing but complains about extremely high taxes and also later complains about low wages]
Disability [disabled sister cannot receive government support for 10 years she's in her late 30s/ So it's a burden on elderly parents]
Housing [Almost no young people can afford to buy a house and a huge percentage have to live at home]

Doesn't even touch on the Islamization of Britain - still a third rail for leftists.

Dying impoverished welfare states being overrun by migrants draining the system.

The European dream for most of the leftists on here. Sounds amazing.

2 year ago and it was for reposting a swastika

Ridiculous yes. And the police were called out for it. But why post things from 2 years ago?

In fairness population declines are in all developed countries. No nation has figured it out. I mean, how do you reconcile making both men and women work and prioritize their own future without coming at the expense of raising a family of more than one or two kids? It is possible to raise a larger American family with current incomes, but our standards of keeping up with the Joneses means that it comes at the expense of four or five streaming plans, a nice up-to-date iPhone, all the other perks like cell phones for everybody, computers for 2, 2 cars that look good In front of your friends, a night out to a good restaurant every other week, starbucks, 25k/yr colleges, and don’t even think about taking a vacation to a different country.

It’s pretty much first gen immigrant life with first world standards, which no "self-respecting American" would jump into willingly. But that’s America and it’s great. (Sincerely)

Other countries are handling it differently. In Asia, the leading east Asian countries are all hit with population declines. Taiwan and South Korea are fighting for the lowest growth rate. They all follow Japan’s model of sacrificing their people's living standards to boost overall economic growth. When they finally take the jump into becoming a developed country like when Japan joined the Plaza Accords, real estate and other assets rose much higher than the average income. Their economy rapidly grows along with the original suppressed value of their money, and those who are lucky are in and those who weren’t born yet or did not own assets are out.

Japan is not like Europe, but we all know they’re slowly shrinking as they have to figure out how to deal with diminishing pop growth ASAP. They are letting in some immigrants, but not to the pace of supporting all of their elderly in terms of either welfare or adding productivity to the economy through employment. With this late stage of their decline, they are dealing with inflation (devalued money) and a squeezed middle class. So

China has that looking for them because they did the exact same thing. They thought breaking pass the middle income trap meant suppressing their Yuan and CoL in their city workers to boost their export industry. Post One Child policy, the people who didn't make it big, just gave up sacrificing for the greater good or was too poor in spirit or financially to consider raising a big family.

Europe saw that they also needed more people for productivity growth, and they have really tried since the late 80s when they started relaxing immigration quotas. It’s just that even with incentives for growing families, women having a choice to determine their own future might not necessarily mean having a family with more than two kids. Also, the welfare state was designed for people who did not have the means to support themselves, but it’s eventually became a standard to support anyone who didn’t want to work. As a result, it supports an Idiocracy like endgame where welfare state losers outbreed the bread winners.

America saw some foreshadowing when labor unions in the 60s demanded so much from car companies that a lot of the same companies couldn’t afford pensions a generation later. This is a case study for pendulum shifts In leverage during these kinds of negotiations, and for a nation, voters with who they elect. Lot of these politicians are calculating their own survival by pandering to the lowest common denominator and now they’re using “liberal think tanks " to produce decrees that aren't actionable (it's your fault...suck it up), measurable (decriminalizing everything or defunding poleez is good and it Saves U Money!), or accountable in order to justify actions (or lack of governance) that the natives or even members in their own party doesn't like.

Last year the world held the most elections by people represented, and they turned rightward and mostly were against globalization as blame for lower living standards and future outlook. The irony is that globalization can be measured and has shown its benefits through data but we also know how it affects the poor and local industry, while some countries like China, Japan, and Germany exploit Free trade through account surpluses.

I guess America is lucky In the sense that immigrants flowing from the south are mostly Catholic and share many similar western ideals and principles. They’re more willing to integrate and continue the social contract that represented the American Dream. Latinos voting for Trump is Americanization or integration liberals wanted 2 decades ago even if the final outcome isnt what todays liberals expected. I'm still pro immigration. I also think there should be strings attached and they need to jettison hateful cultural baggage after a generation or two if they want a future here.

P.S. I'm not blaming women for being able to choose their own future in a system asking more from them when married. Divorce rates and incarceration rates for men are also high, so it's not like men are living the gold standard. I wrote it like that because it's an unsolved issue despite well intentioned policies.
