The problem with KAT is that in his mind he was still an Alpha but he deferred to Ant already....... He was basically a 21-22 and 10 guy for them.......it is max worthy but not necessarily championship guarantee....... OKC can pay the big 3 and probably has to deal Cason Wallace and some of their role players, replace them with rookies and sophomores.
It is okay for fans to like where the team is but it is the GM's job to make the team even better. It is not for him to like where we are at.
I like where we’re at as a team defensively, but individually and offensively, definitely not. Sengun, Jalen, Jabari & FVV are way too inconsistent. Our offense is abysmal. Ime continues to play Adams and basically prefers 2-3 more rebounds over 3pt defense and stretching the floor. The main positives are the twins off the bench, who are responsible for 50-75% of the offensive rebounds we’re being praised for, and alongside Brooks the reason why our defense is we’re its at. Brooks another positive, our best shooter and less of an idiot than last season. We might be 3rd, but losing a couple games and you’re 12th….our record is not necessarily indicative of where we stand in that regard. With our offense, we’re also bound to fall, likely sooner than later. With our roster and Ime’s preferences, I don’t see us becoming consistent anytime soon nor able to beat the teams who’ve gone on a roll. We are 6-4 in the last 10 and could’ve easily lost the two overtime games that both should never had gone to overtime had we had a better offense and the game against the Warriors got really lucky. Let’s see where we stand January 1st after the Mavs game, we need to go 6-1 and beat the bad teams badly for me to believe we are on a positive uptrend.
We need to try other pieces.....give Reed more time at PG - give Cam more time at SG - find out everything you can before shaking up the roster with trades. I like where we are but not satisfied we can get where we want to as constructed. DD
We’re ahead of schedule. Let’s see how the rest of the season plays out with this group before making any rash moves.
We are third after less than 1/3 of the season. I am happy with our record so far, but it is rose colored to think we will finish 3. We are only 3.5 games out of 11th in the West and our starting backcourt has been total crap in over half our games. There is no need to make a panic trade because this was always another development year as we wait for a star to shake loose. We have 4 easy games coming up and we need to sweep them, because the schedule is brutal in January and we could find ourselves battling again for the playin. We have to do something about Fred and/or Jalen whether it be through trade or giving Amen a shot to start. It's been stated before, but this short rotation and frenetic defense is going to produce tired legs in the last quarter of the season. It won't produce winning all year, the offense has to get better.
Nobody in Cali or NY gives a rat's ass about those teams. SA has appeal, because of Wemby but the NBA will always play up the coasts, because that's where the money is.
I agree no rash moves, but treat this as a development year and make moves internally. Maybe a new coach, developing your future instead of parking most of your minutes in FVV and Dillon who are probably not part of that future. Because our youth are playing such good defense, we can have both a competitive team and be developing our young guys by simple rotation changes.
Love the positivity! And yes, we need a shooter. But this can be a BLESSING IN DISGUISE. I think the glaring lack of scoring on a national stage can can prompt Ime to make some changes. FVV said as much in his Post-game interview
There's way more to be happy about than angry about right now. Anyone in their feelings was going to be angry no matter what, even if they won something wouldn't have been good enough. This is a good team that still has potential to grow. Enjoy it, it's better than tanking.
Reed posting a video of him splashing open 3s after the game. He obviously feels he should be out there.
I enjoy watching the games. I do get angry, but I've watched almost all the games in the last decade. I even enjoyed the Silas years, because I like to watch how the young guys develop over time. I also like to comment on what the team should do better. This board would be terribly boring if all we did was sit back and be satisfied with slow paced improvement. I agree we are ahead of schedule for a rebuild, but I'm greedy and want us to compete for a championship sooner rather than later, without panic trading.
Hembro, I enjoy your posts. We all see things differently but I never got the feeling you were one of these emotional, always angry or honky posters. I muttered a few f-bombs last night watching too, we're all competitive or we wouldn't like basketball to start. I get it, I'm not happy about the loss but overall, I'm happy and it's because we are winning, we have a fun team, a good coach and lots of players to cheer. My posts and rationale are going to match that energy.
I generally agree with this. It's a waste of time looking for 1 dimensional shooters like Garrison Matthews that won't make a playoff rotation on a contender anyway. The offense, in the long run, will have to come from our core guys. Those 2 guys haven't necessarily earned more minutes but I think it's worth losing a couple games here or there that we would have otherwise grinded out to find where our offense will come from in the future. Part of the reason it hasn't been done was because guys are playing better ahead of them. I think you mitigate some of that by going small more often. Eliminate those 5-10mins of trying to make Steven Adams work and give FVV more rest. I also think the small ball minutes give the team more time to explore how to unlock Amen's offense. For him to reach his full potential he needs some way of getting consistent offense. It can't always be fast breaks, offensive boards, and alley oops.
Team is definitely better than I thought they would be at this point in the season. Also, some players are definitely playing worse than I thought they would at this point in the season. Both can be true.
