Wow that is an awful take by the NY/Boston/LA propaganda machine. Yordan hasn't had any knee issues since 2020... his hand issues seem to resolve itself. We are still inevitable (in the AL West).
The things we never say about trades (or not enough) is that a trade can be good for both teams. If the Cubs think they’re a (doesn’t give a ****, playoff absent) Kyle Tucker away from maybe overcoming the (gasp) Milwaukee Brewers then good on them!!! The Astros needed to get younger. They needed to not have talent walk away for nothing AGAIN. And I’m damn sure not interested in paying Kyle Tucker what he and his agent think he’s worth given Soto’s deal. Context is important.
it was all downhill after that terrible performance in the 2023 post-season. If he is even average, we probably win the whole thing. The leg injury wiping a majority of his 2024 season was the nail in the coffin and made the decision easier for Crane.
He didn’t want to stay with the Astros. Even if he did want to stay, Crane wouldn't pay him what he’s gonna get. Tucker was gone no matter what.
Knowing they won't be paying Tucker (or likely Bregman at this point) - I hope they use that money to lock up Valdez and add another bat in the outfield. I'm not sure what the market for Bregman actually looks like, so I could see some scenarios where he's at third and Paredes addresses 1B, but that seems less likely.
Depends on how good Cam Smith becomes and what Dana does with the money saved by trading Tucker. I could easily see Parades becoming a 30 hr guy.
Tucker was on pace for 8-9 wins over a full season last year, this only makes sense from getting value for a dude you weren't resigning anyways perspective.
He squeezed the final out of a WS for the little team that I wasn’t sure would ever win one before I died…even as late as 2016. Thanks for that moment I’ll likely see in fast motion rewind as I’m kicking off
Astros like players named Paredes (Isaac, Jimmy, Enoli) as much as Rockets like players named Green (Jalen, Gerald, Jeff)
Hmm. Well. Houston didn't get better, but at least they didn't lose him for nothing. That's not a bad return and I'm much happier seeing him in Chicago than with the Yankees.
