Williams is a closer. Relief pitchers, even closers, are risky (inconsistency) and have less impact than starters. And there is only a single year of high priced control. But in this market, it feels very light. Durbin had a good year in AAA but usn't a highly regarded prospect. The Brewers must really like him.
And the Brewers could flip Cortes at the deadline if they are out of it. Cortes could have PTSD and was maybe headed for a bad season in the Bronx.
If the Astros could get out from all of Pressly’s contract and get a prospect like Caleb Durbin back, I take that every day of the week.
With NY dealing Cortez, they burned their surplus pitching. I assume this means they are out on Tucker if we are insisting on Gil. But based on the reports of “trash” offers, maybe they never would have offered Gil in the first place.
Be prepared to be disappointed because they aren't giving us that much for one year of Tucker, especially knowing there's a high chance he isn't resigning. The Yankees 100% thought they would resign Soto when they made their trade.
Both Tucker and Framber Valdez are free agents after this season. They are both valuable players but a single season limits their worth in trade. We can get a good return but nobody is going to empty the farm.
Alex Bohm? Dude had one good half of baseball in his career last year. There's a reason the Phillies are trying to sell him and no one wants him.
Paredes and Smith is a good deal for 1 year of 1 player but based on the Soto return last season and the overall market this offseason, it’s not enough. They’ve got to have another meaningful piece in there.
