Can't remember who I was looking at the other day, who was linked sorta-semi-somewhat to the Stros via trade...Alec Bohm maybe? 40 something walks and 80 something strikeouts over a full season, which is very intriguing...the downside is the 20+ GIDP
At this point expect a surprise team to sweep in: Giants? Wade, Matos, Doval, and #1 prospect (35 overall) 1b Bryce Eldridge.
I still prefer this, but Paredes, Suzuki or Bellinger, and Shaw or Smith must all be included. I'm actually not sure if I prefer Suzuki or Bellinger. Suzuki is cheaper, more guaranteed control, and less drama. Bellinger has the positional versatility and maybe allows them to give Dezenzo or Whitcomb a chance in RF?
Kyle Tucker and/or Framber should be “Give us the farm” or “No”. All the offers I’m seeing are heavy on players already contributing on MLB rosters…..I’m fine w/ that if they’re thrown in along with multiple top prospects, but this needs to be a prospect haul or pass in my humble opinion
That isn't gonna happen with a player one year away from free agency no matter how good, it just isn't. This isn't the NBA where one star changes everything and re-signing them is all but guaranteed.
Completely disagree. These need to be a 2 or more young controllable good ( not all star) players + 1 or 2 prospects type of deal. Or nothing. The priority needs to fill multiple holes in 2025. There is no avoiding those plugs each being lesser than Tucker. The prospect(s) is needed, but they flame out all the time and the Astros need guaranteed (or as close as you can get) production in this deal and still expect to compete in 2025.
That seems like a really light return for the brewers. Why do the Yankees and dodgers always get away with deals like this?
Williams is a rental closer. A good one. But still, a rental at a position that only becomes super valuable in the playoffs. Williams is also making $8M next season, so he only had maybe $15M max in surplus value. Cortes has multiple 3 win seasons on his resume and is very likely to produce more total value than Williams this season, plus the Yankees are covering some of his cost. Durbin is not a highly rated prospect but he is an extreme contact hitter with speed and defensive value, so he has value even as a bench player but could end up like a Luis Arraez type on offense.
