    Bocas del Toro is a great place, just across the Panama border.

    We were between Talamanca and Uva...Manzanillo? area makes sense. There was a nature preserve 10 minutes down the road.

    The Pacific side was great to visit, so was the interior (that was 2 months here and there), but the most relaxed I was, was right where you're going.

    The 2024 version of the Texans is so different than last year. The opposition is now game planning against them much more successfully. Frankly, the current team looks dysfunctional especially on offense. Miami is possibly the better team overall, but this is a must win. I hope Demeco and the coaches "got real" during the bye week and made strategic changes.

    I think this is a must win game simply for the fact we need some confidence going into KC, a loss here and you possibly go on a 0-3 run. I really don't want to back into the playoffs, but I hope the Colts lose to Denver and we beat Miami............When you look at Miami their record is deceiving and Tua is on a tear............the million dollar question is did the Coaches make adjustments so the offense can click

    I a good friend of mine put his ranch in Cold Spring for sale and moved to Costa Rica. Also ran into a guy at a restaurant that is looking to move there. Interesting that so many folks headed down south.

    Huge expat community down there. A stunning country. Volcanoes, waterfalls, jungles, pristine beaches, world class fishing especially pelagic if you're into that sort of thing. Most properties on the market I saw had mature mango, banana, coconut and various other fruits on site. Great soil for growing your own food. Easy to sustain yourself without a grocery store if necessary.

    I wont make this a referendum, but I met several Americans on my recent trip to scout/purchase property and every one of them had politics as their reason for leaving the States and it was mine as well even though I haven't considered myself political in decades. My wife and her family are from Costa Rica and they no longer felt safe or comfortable here even after completing their immigration "the right way" back in the 80s so it made the decision that much easier for us. Take that as you will.

    Crazy thing is for years my wife and I had identified the Nueces Canyon between Camp Wood and Leakey or the span off 55 alongside the Nueces River as the place where we wanted to wind down our lives so this came completely out of left field for us.

    Im sorry to have hijacked the game thread guys. I think I've answered all the questions on my upcoming move and if anyone has more just shoot me a DM and we can get back on course.

    ~~~~~
    I think Tua is going to have a tough game on Sunday. Our D is going to be amped up after the Azeez stuff and I suspect we are going to burn off some extra energy there.
    I hope to see CJ rekindle his comfort level with Nico and we use our superstar RB accordingly.
    A former co-worker of mine and her retired military husband moved down there a couple of years ago with their special needs son, they live in Santa Cruz, they absolutely love it. Her husband is looking to start a sport fishing business soon
    You could do a lot worse in Texas, but I'm afraid the changing climate will soon (not like it isn't already) wreak havoc on rural Texas.
    Whoever mentioned "sell out and move out" earlier is sadly on the right track. I think about it all the time.
    The last time we made our loop up 55, over 337 and back down through Concan it was already an unsettling vibe sadly. I have an old business boss who retired and bought himself a 300 acre ranch in Rocksprings -- loved it at first, but he is now looking at either Belize or Panama to finish out his golden years because in his own words "its just no fun here anymore".
    All you guys talking about retiring deep south...I'll be flying cross the ocean to retire somewhere in Asia. I hope I'll die naturally and not because I drowned somewhere due to a typhoon lmao
    Thought about that too (have a cousin in NZ who says I'd fit in perfectly there), but would like to stay close enough to Texas to make it an easy trip back for family/friends/TexMex reasons.
    Not exactly, I'm thinking it'll be in Vietnam since my wife is one; haven't fully decided. I still have time, I am close to my kids and eventually would like to be with my future grandkids..that will play a big role.
