Interesting. Did they actually offer that? MLB Network was at the Winter Meetings and did a segment where they came up with hypothetical trades. They proposed the Phillies sending Bohm, Castellanos and a prospect for Tucker. Is this confirmed to be a separate report? Or is this maybe getting picked up by an aggregator Twitter account from that MLB Network segment? Either way, if they actually offered that, I'm relieved we turned it down. Would be a really underwhelming return. EDIT: Just found the audio from the segment with Bowden this morning. Phillies did indeed make that offer. We have to be aiming MUCH higher than Bohm and Castellanos.
Damn Bohm would've been nice. I don't think there's any aiming higher, I just think the Astros are trying to cut salary and get more prospects...can't do that with Castellanos' money.
"Offered" Nick Castellanos like he's a positive asset, and Bohm coming off his first actual good season with only 1 year of team control more than Tucker. Not only declined, I would have been downright insulted
Surely there was a prospect included in that offer, along with Philly paying a lot of Castellanos’ contract.
Bohm is not good. One good season in his whole career. And even then he wasn't any good after the all star break. Castellanos isn't any good either, regardless of the money. It's a low ball offer.
I really, really like the idea of Paredes. At his age, playing at MMP, I think he could be just about as good as Bregman over the next 3 seasons. Of course, for 2025 that just shifts the problem of replacing Bregman to the problem of replacing Tucker and still has us in a worse off position.
