It is not like Stone was a new dude like Morey was first introduced by Dawson.

Stone was with Morey most of the time, he was just doing a specific task than being the Overall GM.

This is was like the seamless transition of an assistant who has been with the office the whole time to becoming the head of the office.

    • And the one thing that Morey never really had was the full trust of the owner - Tilman.

    • This is like playing a game with a certain cheat code because you are the Yes man of the owner.
    • Resources were just not the same given to Morey than given to Stone......the difference.
    • A seat specifically warmed up for you ... I give it a solid and mediocre 2.5 out of 5 stars.

I think Stone and the Fertitta family were on the same page of home grown team and not trading for 28+ "stars" who would have us 6-8th seed every year. I applaud them being passive and going through the pains

I just think they are waiting to see if the kids can take over after this year and stand on their own before making a gut wrenching move with our young guys. I think Stone has thought ahead pretty well. FVV can come off the books, Brooks looks very tradable, and we have a handful of future picks still that seem pretty decent. There is not need to make a move until this off season or next season if the team can't stand on its own without FVV

One day I will give him his complete flowers but I am no fan of the company man that almost had no danger of losing his job.....

And who could learn from everyone in the company down to the last man.

But maybe that is the gist of the story - to value the last man standing.

They had to be forced into that position though. They've even publicly stated how aggressive they were to cash in as late as this last Summer. They were basically all in on trading for Donovan Mitchell openly. He is 28.

Sometimes people just get a bit lucky that they didn't always get what they wanted at the time. I have no faith that if an aging star truly shakes lose that they actually can get, that they won't pull the trigger and trade even players we think are untradeable future stars.

Tari Eason and Reed Sheppard are the only benefits we have received so far from the Harden trade clearly you don't understand all the stuff Stone has done to put in this position. Suggest you read Joe Joe's post.

The picks were accumulated because he was given permission to trade away every piece of a contending team, including a generational talent. He has done a good job of accumulating picks and building a team, i think betting against the Suns and pushing out the picks was the right move. Ownership has really been good in not being short sighted as well, and allowing the team to tank for several seasons, it is not common you get the chance to do this as a GM. He has definitely missed some opportunities, if the rumors are true of the calls that were made (SGA for #2 over all that became Jalen, trade to move up to #1 w Orlando to get Paulo instead of Jabari etc). I think he has set the team up to have another opportunity at obtaining a star. I think he has been very low risk so far, at some point he will need to take on risk to get us to the next level. That would mean making one of those types of trades he has passed up on. The trade to get Sengun was maybe the only deal that was a bit out of the box, everything else seems like he is taking what is given to him.

They can have Fred, Rockets need to move that contract because it could be seen as a valuable asset to teams trying to clear space, it wouldn’t help Miami much because Jimmy is expiring as well. I kinda want Harden back too tho. Idk, maybe look into Ingram. Or call the Nets for Bogdonavic to stretch the floor. We need shooting!

Do we really need Jimmy Butler, especially at a high price?

Nope. Let the Mavs have him.

Didn't we just win games like this?

I know this is difficult for a sooner to understand.

I understand it quite well! Perhaps, I posted this prematurely. It seemed like they'd blown it. Then, they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with some stellar defense and a little luck getting that foul call. The point stands though. If they had a reliable perimeter scorer, they'd have won this easily.

Thinking Brooks, Sheppard, Whitmore, Eason, and two firsts for Zion Williamson.

You know the Warriors have an excellent record and one of the best defenses in the NBA? They wanted this game real bad too. Anyone is more likely to win their close games if they upgrade a position. We actually won this game though. Jalen Green jumped to the ground and snatched the ball, if it wasn't a foul he wouldn't let go of the ball and we'd at least have possession. It was actually a foul btw. Maybe surprising they called it in this game, but it wouldn't be the only surprising call in the game. It's 100% a correct call and the post game report will show it.

Like I said anyone can use an upgrade at any position but this team is killing it. Jalen Green is picking up steam again. Whitmore might be getting another shot soon. Amen is doing an amazing job of attacking the rim this season. I think we're better off waiting for a better option than just any consistent scorer. I'm not sure Butler's defense is even going to hold up, he has a tiny wingspan and a long injury history.

Why? To have him sit on our bench in a suit instead of NO's bench? Zion can be a great player when healthy, but he's proven time and time again that he will never take his health seriously.
