@Snake Diggit what is the equivalent Astros package for Burger? I know he’s not great on defense, but he has middle of the order bat potential. I wouldn’t have minded Burger as an option
It’s a good package for Miami. Acosta is a good prospect and slotted in the middle of the Rangers top 10, An equivalent package might be something like Brice Matthews, Chase Jaworsky, and Raimy Rodriguez. I liked Burger but wouldn’t have wanted Houston to give up anything close to that.
Keep Tucker, trade framber and pressley, resign Bregman, and sign burnes or buehler. This would give us a killer b’s pitching staff. Go all in this year and reload next year when the abreu and montero money come off. Or let Bregman walk and sign walker or Alonso.
All this nonsense about trading Tucker and Framber and ahhhhhh trade everyone and rebuild!! Let’s overreact to crazy contracts!!! Stupid. Fill holes, run it back. This is a veteran team and trading away all these guys makes little sense unless you just gut the team and full on rebuild, which would be asinine. Crane has enough money to not be a jackass.
That’s fair but these trades are always crapshoots. Purpura and Wade? Got some good returns on paper that turned into absolute crap. The Michael Bourne trade still pisses me off. Id probably rather trade Framber and bet on the pitching depth to come together for another run, let Tuck walk after next year, etc. but I feel like they owe Altuve everything vs just gutting the team and rebuilding and taking the easy way out. That’s some bullshit.
Alonso is a good player but at this point he is about as good as Yainer Diaz, if Diaz was 31 and limited to 1B. He will get paid, possibly even 9 figures, but he’s a clear level below Bregman.
How would you feel if say they got Hoerner, Bellinger and 2 top prospects back for Tucker, then traded for Correa? Altuve would be very happy despite losing Bregs.
Bellinger the baseball player is intriguing. Bellinger the Astros baseball player is not. Sure I’d love Correa back. Not a huge fan of Hoerner. “Top prospects” is too generic. I need names and I need to look up these clowns to tell you if I’m down or not.
If Bregman walks, which is looking inevitable, then likely the only player from this dynasty to retire an Astro will be Altuve. That is so damn depressing…
They had enough quality pitching last year. It won't be drastically better this year... the hope is that it stays level and gets reinforced with some returns from injury, but regression for Blanco/Framber a reality and Brown/etc. have to stay healthy. There is not a move that will make them "better" for next year that involves trading Tucker/Framber. If you want to punt on 2025, which I don't see them doing, then you will parrot all the trades/possibilities/prospects that aren't guaranteed to do anything for Altuve/Alvarez.
The more I think about things the more I think that if Correa is at all being made available then Houston needs to go get him. His contract isn’t onerous and is well within what Houston would offer if he were still on their team. Hes still a guy that puts up superstar production when he’s healthy. He loves Houston and the fans love him. He’s the perfect antidote for all the negativity.
