The social media response -and the response of the overwhelming majority of people has been at BEST indifference to the assassination of the CEO.... that cuts across the spectrum from the poor to include even the upper middle class. It really isn't a political issue of one party against another, it is indicative of the lack of faith that Americans have in the system around them, from the government to corporations.
That is basically it. We can argue over whether Americans should have sympathy or empathy - but the response is pretty clear, Americans don't really have much concern for what they see as person profiting off the misery of other people. This isn't entirely new - we did not see Americans care when the submarine imploded with wealthy people in it either. There is a certain level of distrust for authority figures, establishments and private business that profits off of it. "Drain the swamp" for most Americans isn't limited to the government like some seem to think - that includes wealthy corporations and their executives that profit off of income inequality. If this gets any worse, there are going to be some autistic billionaires that will be quite startled.
https://nypost.com/2024/12/09/us-ne...lthcare-ceo-brian-thompson-outside-nyc-hotel/ A person of interest was nabbed Monday in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson — busted possibly trying to use a fake ID in a McDonald’s, law enforcement sources said. The man — who sources said is being eyed for the coldblooded, targeted execution in front of a Manhattan hotel last week — allegedly had a manifesto on him when he was taken into custody by cops in Altoona, Pa. He also had a gun, silencer, four fake IDs and other items “consistent” with what authorities were looking for in the case, sources said. Law enforcement was still trying to figure out the man’s real identity, sources said. He was nabbed on a tip called in to local cops, who apprehended him, sources said. The NYPD was on its way to Altoona late Monday morning, sources said.
Knew it would be an elderly patron that would rat on him. It sure as hell wasn't going to be the factory workers in the town, the McDonald's employees or those working in the local Dollar General in Altoona. I am sure the media - both mainstream and some of the talking heads on social media will try to now shift the American thought to what a terrible and cold-blooded man the shooter is - but I don't think it is going to stick.
You are vastly overestimating support for the murderer. Most people have a moral compass that says murder is wrong.
I was thinking that. Maybe they wanted it for verification of a credit card??? They used to do that back in the day, and, well, it is Altoona.
Lack of faith in the system is definitely a political stance. And it is one of the forces that fed Trump's rise to power. So I don't think it's a neutral consideration. I just don't yet understand how it interacts with this event. Lol. Sounds like someone recognized him and called police and the police confronted him and asked for ID.
Yeah I think that’s poorly worded. Not that McDonalds was IDing or carding him. Apparently one of the fake IDs on him was used at the hostel. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/12/09/nyregion/uhc-ceo-murder-suspect “The man has been arrested in Altoona on local charges, possibly in connection with presenting false identification to the police, a senior law enforcement official said.” “The man who was detained at McDonald’s showed the police the same fake New Jersey identification that the man believed to be the gunman presented when he checked into a hostel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Nov. 24, a senior law enforcement official said.” “The man arrived in Altoona on a Greyhound bus, a senior law enforcement official said. Brian Thompson’s killer is also believed to have taken a Greyhound when he arrived in New York City 10 days before the shooting.” https://abc7ny.com/post/unitedhealthcare-ceo-killer-suspect-altoona-pa-mcdonalds/15630321/ Working off a tip, police stopped a person travelling by bus in Altoona, 276 miles west of New York City. The man, 26, was travelling on a Greyhound bus. He walked into a McDonald's where a witness recognized him from the images police had circulated, sources said. Altoona police were called and he was taken to a local police precinct for questioning. The person was found with a fake New Jersey driver's license that matches the one the NYPD has said the suspect used to check in at the Manhattan hostel. Altoona police also recovered a computer and a gun similar to the one used in the assassination-style killing, sources said Law enforcement is asking Greyhound for its passenger manifest, to see what name he gave them The man will be held on local law enforcement charges likely connected to a false identification, sources said. The NYPD detectives are headed to Altoona.
Don't have to show an ID to vote, but have to show one to order a quarter pounder with cheese. Smh BIDEN'S AMERICA
uh huh He was smart enough to pull of the murder but kept the ID from the hostel and the gun. SMH Seems like you should burned that ID and planted the run in some gutter The silencer in a different gutter . . . . Rocket River hhhhmmmmm . . .. they gotta pin it on someone There is NO WAY they allow an ELITE'S PUBLIC MURDER go unsolved. . .they must SHOW THE PUBLIC they cannot get away with it Even if it is just a show
this shooter has vast support that crosses party lines, but I do think his support might be a bit overstated I keep seeing posts online about jury nullification or “good luck getting 12 people to convict” if he goes to trial and I’m like “uh, a lot of people aren’t ok with someone getting away with assassinating someone on the street”
I've seen the celebration of George Zimmerrnan, Daniel Penny, Kyle Rittenhouse, and many others to know that is BS. I wouldn't say it support for the murderer. I wouldn't say they don't think the murder was wrong. I would say it is a complete lack of support for the victim.
“The handwritten manifesto found on the person of the man detained in Altoona criticized health care companies for putting profits above care, according to a senior law enforcement official.” https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/1...rl-share#24cac0e2-b987-5e4a-a266-423049fd488f
Depends on who is being murdered. Things are never black or white. If you think so, do you think it was wrong for people to celebrate Bin Laden being murdered? I'm not saying this guy is that, but when you make black or white statements like "Murder is always wrong" then you are begging the logic of that statement to be checked.
I don't think you or juicystream understands what the definition of murder is. Murder is the unlawful, premediated killing of one human by another. So George Zimmerman, Daniel Penny, Kyle Rittenhouse, Rob O'Neill (killed bin Laden) did not murder and as such, those comparisons are invalid. See, you learned something today. GOOD DAY
