It’s simply because Maldy was Dusty’s boy. Dusty played him over Diaz even though eveyone, including the front office, knew he was wrong for that. That is the reason RVO hates Diaz, Espada, and the Astros. He only supports Dusty because Dusty is black. If Dusty was white, RVO wouldn’t even remember him. He has admitted all of this too
They were the best bullpen while you said Dusty normally screws up his pitchers. They were managed to get REST. You owe your thanks to Dusty. It wasn’t the fact the bullpen was the best. They were rested. McCullers was left to take a beating in that WS game so the other guys would be fresh. It paid off. Dusty argued to have Peña bat 2nd while Click refused. It paid off.
