The Rockets' core is Jalen Green. That's it.

Interesting take. Serious question: What type of shots does Jalen create at at an "incredibly above average level?"

Contested step back threes? Absolutley, but opponents want him to take these shots as he has been a poor shooter from there his entire career. Same goes for mid-range shots; where he is even less capable of a shooter.

Jalen also struggles to finish at the rim, especially when there is contact and he only draws under 4 FTA per game. So, again, below average to poor at the rim. Additionally, Jalen requires a screen and a lane being open for a straight line drive. Being extremly limited in how you get to the rim combined with poor finishing and the inability to draw fouls results in Jalen again being poor.

He is great at creating shots for himself that the opponent wants him to take. Jalen has no spot on the court nor go to move or type of shot that is average or better. And, creating for teammates Jalen is even more underwhelming.

If we saw linear progression towards the positive year over year, we could buy into these if statements about Jalen. That's not the case. He has stagnated and even regreseed relative to how much he should have improved over the past 4 years. Relative to other players historically as well.

He may improve, but I don't see him progressing past a microwave scorer off the bench who will rack up DNPs due to his consistantly insonsistant play.

His shot creation ability is similar to Westbrook. Russ can also create all the shots you want, because he can’t shoot so people just let him take them. Jalen is exactly the same.

They are similar in ways, but the biggest difference is that Westbrook has always had a better FG%, has always averaged more steals and rebounds, and has always had a better ASST/TO ratio than Jalen. The biggest similarity is that neither really improved their 3PT% averages with time.

This is true, Green lacks Westbrook's strength and skill, so he's basically a homeless man's Westbrook.

If Jalen played anythjng like Westbrook I don't think he would be such an enigma with the fan base. Everyone loved Westbrook because of his mentality and his never quit attitude. That dude hustled his ass off and chased down every loose ball and played with his hair on fire which masked the fact that he was actually terrible at scoring the basketball. Westbrook wasn't even one of the best passers but he's still 1000% better at it than Jalen. The only similarities in there game is that they miss a bunch of shots and take a bunch of bad shots.. he has none of westbrooks elite traits and all the bad stuff which makes a terrible player.

What are you even talking about? How many times have Rockets fans called him Westbrick or demonized during and after his time here in Houston? The fact is fans demonize some players while christening others. Sengun makes dumb ass decisions yet still let off the hook. No criticism. Can do no wrong. No flaws.

Jalen as Small ball Center here cometh....

Westbrook was 8x more muscular. He actually reminded me of Dillon Brooks if DB had hops and could fly.

At the end there is Dillon guarding Westbrook.

When it was not the Playoffs, Russ was one helluva stat chaser ......especially rebounding and steals.

I'm not talking about Houston Westbrook. He already lost some of his athleticism and he was brought in to replace CP3 who was a much better player. He wasn't the same player here. Okc Westbrook was loved by all his fans even through all his flaws. Lol sengun gets plenty of criticism. What are you even saying?

Hated just as they hate Jalen. No Sengun does not receive hate. Criticism is different than hate. And There are those who find no flaws with him. Usual suspects.

He's referring to Clutch. Clutch started a thread about identifying the rockets young core, and he said it's a 1 player core - Jalen Green. I think it was like 2 years ago though.

What? literally the guy who runs this site wanted to bench him for Bruno Fernando. How is that not hate. Big difference is Jalen was handed the keys to the kingdom while sengun had to earn it from the bench. You can see why one guy is criticized more than the other. Expectations vs reality. Jalen being 2nd overall pick and we expected him to be the star. Instead we are watching every player drafted after him out performing him. Sengun on the other hand is out performing everyone drafted in front of him including Jalen.

Sengun plays winning team basketball. Jalen just runs around like a chicken with his head cutoff..
