Bama can beat anyone but they’re super inconsistent.

    Deboer is a clown. “NERRRRRDDDDSSS”

A Penn State LB threw up before the snap on Oregon's 2nd TD pass just now.

I don’t disagree at all. James Franklin is comically bad at winning a big game.

Heartbreaking loss for SMU - hope they still get in but not looking good for the ponies.

Very good CFB day for me with both Clemson and Oregon winning. Good to see Cade play great in a big moment. Adam Randall is one of the most snake-bitten players I've ever seen and he delivers the most stunning play of the game.

Unreal ending in Charlotte. I sure hope SMU gets in over Alabama.

I agree - SMU was down by 17 going into the 4th quarter and then they come all the way back to tie the game. I think they showed that they belong in the playoff field but I am worried that the favoritism shown towards Alabama will rear its ugly head again.

Greg "The Blowhard" Sankey was moaning and groaning about conference championship game losers being punished by the committee. I wonder what he has to say now.

The arguments about regarding SMU etc are going to be interesting.

I personally think it's ludicrous that you shouldn't get punished for losing a conference championship game. It certainly depends on the context of each situation.

"Why would you want to play in a conference championship game if you're going to get punished?"

Well idk, because if you win you have a really good chance of earning a ****ing bye week during the playoffs, which is a gigantic advantage. These talking heads piss me off.

Oregon owns the B1G their first year in the conference. UT and SMU had the same opportunity but fell short.

Head to head, Bama is probably crushing SMU.

Howeva, that's why football games are played, and if we were going to evaluate things like that, then no need to play games, just put Bama in the playoff before the season starts, which is stupid.

Also howeva, SMUs schedule sucked ass.

    Penn State's schedule sucked ass.

    Indiana's schedule sucked ass.

Ehh, it's tough. I say put SMU in. But, in any other season, a 2 loss SMU isn't even getting consideration against a 3 loss SEC school with a much better pedigree and more impressive wins.

ESPN’s Heather Dinich is predicting that SMU stays in the field and that Alabama is out.

I can see the seedings being as follows:

    1) Oregon
    2) Georgia
    3) Boise State
    4) Arizona State
    5) Penn State
    6) Texas
    7) Notre Dame
    8) Ohio State
    9) Tennessee
    10) Indiana
    11) SMU
    12) Clemson

There could be some shuffling with Notre Dame and Texas as well as SMU and Indiana but I would think what I have is reasonably close.

Despite some impressive wins, what makes Alabama vulnerable is they lost to Vanderbilt and got smoked by OU 24-3 in their next to last game.

Right, they're a jeckle and hyde team this year, with a much higher upside than most playoff teams.

Also, Vanderbilt was solid this year, very competitive.

OU yeah I can't explain that one.

Look, I'm an LSU fan. **** Bama. But I also have admittedly fierce SEC bias and I think it's pretty outrageous looking at some of these bullshit schedules that teams used to coast to 10-11 wins. As if Bama (or Ole Miss, or A&M or Missouri) doesn't win 11-12 games in the ACC or Big 12.

At the same time, I enjoy parity in college football, as long as it's not some self-righteous Big 10 school or Notre Dame providing it.

I know I am in the minority but I disagree. It's not Boise State's fault, but they never beat good teams that get tested regularly. Go back to 2023 even - Oregon, UCLA, UCF, Washington - close or not close, they lose.

Meanwhile teams in the other conferences get tested constantly. I would not be surprised if Vegas odds would favor a team like Florida over Boise State by 3 on a neutral site.

I'm taking this even further now... I'm fine with Arizona State going but don't think the Big 12 champion needs to go this year either.

Arizona State AT BEST would be #2 in last year's Pac 12 right now. Iowa State, AT BEST #2 in last years Big 12 (probably 3 at best). Meanwhile Oregon vs PSU is basically Pac12's vs Big 10's best. And Texas vs GA is the Big 12 vs SEC's best. But you're telling me Arizona State needs to go over a team like SC because of the CFB playoffs version of DEI? Lulz.

I get what you’re saying but then if it’s gonna be done like that might as well just cancel the regular season and schedule a big 10 SEC circle jerk tournament.

This discussion right here is why college football is my least favorite of the major sports that get covered extensively by the national media…because it comes down to a ballet contest. Subjective criteria that seems to change every single year…some factor that will keep a team out one year doesn’t affect another team with the same criteria the next.

The ballet contest element is lessened this season with the addition of more spots. If you aren't good enough to make the top 12, you weren't National Championship contenders. That's what this tournament is supposed to do, settle who is the best team on the field. We've come a long way from no playoffs at all and polls picking the winner.
