You raise some interesting questions. I haven't seen any sort of timeline published or the steps the killer took that morning, but it's possible that: 1) The killer had an accomplice. Perhaps from the victim's family even. Or maybe he's attended these conferences before or got his hands on a schedule somehow. 2) He could've simply called each hotel and asked to be connected to the victim's room. Or he could've had eyes on the killer the previous night(s). 3) Hmm, good question. There appears to have been a lot of planning. Then again, the killer could've been targeting any number of high ranking execs and maybe this one was just unlucky. Or maybe someone within the company set him up??? Or maybe the victim was hacked??? Lots of avenues to pursue...
The Hilton Midtown is a pretty mediocre hotel. There are several 5 star hotels just a stone's throw away. I wouldn't have stayed in the Hilton either, I think.
The person the killer was talking to on the phone, minutes before the shooting, was the one telling him where to be and when.

Shitty situation, but people are angry with the healthcare system. Aetna recently made me switch targetted therapy medications because of the price, and I'm currently dealing with horrible side effects while I figure out what dose my body can handle of this new med. The last med got me into remission. I have been cancer-free for two years, with minimal side effects once I learned the proper dosage through weeks of trial and error - which involved me going to the ER twice.

I'm no Columbo but, I'm thinking this is a dude who's family got effected by a declination or Someone on the board knew he was going to upset the apple cart before his scheduled legal testimony. I'm of the opinion there had to be someone close to the victim who knew exactly when he was headed outside so he threw a text to get the gunman to get ready. The dude seemed to know exactly when he was going to be there. Just my thoughts.

Protect the institutions" and the other side acknowledges the distrust of said institutions, hatred of the status quo but says that your struggles with our current economic system is the fault of migrants, urban minorities, trans people, Muslims etc. So one side is giving them groups of people to blame which means they are at least acknowledging there is suffering and built up resentment and hatred happening.
