I kind of think it's wrong to have to choose just one.

It will always be the Kolache's for me.
    I miss Shipleys.
I actually made Kolaches for my Yankee in-laws last week for my nephews Engagement brunch. Dough takes a while but not to hard if you have a stand mixer and patience.

Has @Buck Turgidson already went on a rant about klobasneks and kolaches being different things?

Shanghai pan fried pork buns are good.

If you find the legit kind with the juices inside, prepare to get fat.

Brought those up in the thread about pasta with fillings. They straddle the edge of dumplings and filled bread.

Recently found a place in Minneapolis that makes these.

They fry them and are amazing when just hot and freshly fried.

As said at the beginning this is meant to be a fun hangout thread. Feel free to list multiple ones you like and add others.

I gotta say I was in my 20s before I realized most people in Texas called klobasneks kolaches. We always refered to klobasneks as pigs in the blanket or just pigs. I don't remember the exact moment I came to the realization that people were calling pigs "kolaches". I just remember bringing kolaches to a work thing once in Austin, and getting weird/disappointed looks refering to kolaches as kolaches.

    Jamaican food is incredibly underrated.

There used to be "The Reggae Cafe" in the back corner of a shopping center on Westheimer around Fountain View (nextish to the Snow and Ski Sports). I've made jerk chicken and goat (calm down, @Jontro), but it's not the same.

Make a texas flag out of sprinkles on the cream cheese and you'll be ok.

Whatever it is, they are like crack if it's juicy inside like a xiao long bao.

They’re very good. Can buy them frozen from Asian grocery stores but hard to cook. The way I’ve done them before is cook them in a pan with oil and water. The water steams them first and then the oil crisps them up. It’s a messy process though as can’t cover the pan they’re cooking in so the water boils off.

Sorry been traveling and tied up with family stuff so missed this earlier.

She’s preparing a Thai dish that is a variation of Indian Roti. I’ve had it, not from her, in Thailand and it’s very good but really rich.

I’m in Hong Kong right now and sadly have had some of the worst Bao I’ve had. Had an awful one with tuna fish and egg salad inside. I thought it was going to be something else

Made a batch of these yesterday (pretty much the same recipe as the one you posted, our dough came out thinner and flakier), turned out pretty dang good. Next will be my favorite Argentine empanadas: interchangeably called "arabes" or "fatay picante" (there was a wave of Lebanese immigrants at some point last century)
