My family and I eat out a lot. We’re all annoyed by the growing trend of waiters trying to clear the table while we’re still eating. I literally had a waiter at Pappadeaux last night start picking up the cocktail sauce right by my plate while I still had food on my plate. Didn’t ask at all just started grabbing. Took my wife’s knife just randomly in the middle of the meal. I’ve seen this a ton lately. Way more than before. Please let me finish my meal I’m going to pay you for.

That's pressure from management to turn over tables and not let you linger around once you've basically spent all the money you're gonna spend.

And yes, it's annoying af. Not sure it's a new thing, though.

People that are on their phone while the checker has to ring them up and bag the groceries.

Yeah...not sure it's new...but we eat out a lot and have for years....we all feel like we notice it way more frequently and to the point of being absurd at time. Friday night was the worst, though. Actually had food in my hand and the guys taking stuff away and my wife's knife lol

Yall peons were taking too long, and they needed to seat someone else. Not surprised it was at a Pappas restaurant, they've always been notorious for stuff like that (but the food is still good though)

One trick I've learned if if you're not in a huge hurry is to order slowly, and let 'em know you're going to be there for a bit: order drinks, when you get those then order apps...wait..."we need a little time"...entrees...wait...dessert/coffee, you know, like a proper restaurant would treat you

People that won't let you get off the phone so you can run your errands and check out at the store without being rude to the cashier.

I know there was a time U-Haul had that same practice. I don't know if they still do but man there were a ton of people in the early 2000's that reserved trucks only to find an empty U-Haul lot at their pick up time and place. My dad used to be a U-Haul affiliate and they were big on the "there will be a truck there by the time the customer gets there, we promise." It was never my dad's fault the truck wasn't there, but he always received the wrath of the customer. He didn't even take the reservations! Those were all done at the website or the main call-in number, and they would assign the customer to my dad's lot. My dad would get the order from U-Haul and tell them "um, that truck isn't here guys," and they said "don't worry it'll be there." It never was lol. Poor dad, he ended that affiliation really quick.

I've noticed this trend as well. It happened to us at Zanti's on W. Gray this past Saturday. We weren't even loitering we were still on appetizers and they were clearing plates without asking and with food still on it.

I'm not really kidding when I say:

Anyone on their phone in public

If someone can hear/see you: you are in public and you are an a*****e

I love the folks that seem to think it's OK to be walking and have the person on the phone on speaker for all to hear.

Yeah, and I think that’s come up at least twice in this thread.

What’s really weird is that it’s FaceTime sometimes and the people are just sitting there, silent.

    • People who are in the left-most lane on the feeder road going under the speed limit and not getting on the freeway so your runway for speeding up is much shorter.
    • People who hop on the freeway just to skip a feeder road light who don’t speed up to the speed of freeway traffic (or at least the speed limit)
    • People who get off the freeway onto the feeder road and have this frantic need to get over to the right instantly even if their next turn right is half a mile away.
    • People who get off the freeway and instantly slam on their brakes to slow wayyy down below the feeder road speed limit.
    • My step mother, who is a Karen named Karen and doesn’t get that she’s a Karen.

I said earlier, people who go through their entire lives with a cell phone attached to their ear. Drives me crazy to see some lady babbling on her phone in a busy shopping center parking lot with her kids. Someone could easily come grab one of those kids and she probably wouldn't even notice.

Hell, I don't even like talking on the phone. That's why God invented texting.
