Dude. Everyone knows Spirit was headed to bankruptcy. Wearing stupidity fits you perfectly but that doesn't mean you can't take a break from it.

You are the Mark Cuban of these forums.

The job outcome will end up similar either way, but it was a questionable decision back then and now a pointless decision. Shareholders are the big losers.

"everyone knew" lol youre a braindead moron man seriously. They said in court that they werent at risk for bankruptcy but somehow everyone else knew. If they were at risk for bankruptcy all they would have to do is make that argurment in court and they may have won. They didnt.

They probably thought it would hurt their deal and definitely tank their stock. It was well known that Spirit was in trouble.

Theres an emption they could've argued in front of the judge saying they needed the merger to go through because it would've bankrupted the company. Theres different defenses corporations can argue in an anti trust case. They didnt decide to use that argument. They didnt make the proper argument in court and they only have themselves to blame.

long article, interesting read. But pretty sure one of our resident economic experts will weigh in on why this is all bullshitte

How Democrats Blew It on Inflation
In avoiding the missteps that followed the 2008-09 financial crisis, officials made new mistakes that led to political defeat

    excerpt:

    ‘17 educated idiots’
Republicans were opposed to another stimulus package in early 2021. So Democrats had to maneuver with a razor-thin one-vote majority in the Senate, with Vice President Kamala Harris able to break a 50-50 tie.

Sen. Joe Manchin, the most conservative Democrat in the chamber, was stunned when colleagues told him the $1.9 trillion price tag and warned them it was a massive overreach, he said in a recent interview.

Lawmakers were seeking to extend temporary unemployment benefits of an extra $400 a week. “A lot of hardworking people aren’t making that kind of money in my state,” Manchin told his colleagues.

Within hours of speaking up, he found himself face-to-face in the Oval Office with Biden. Manchin begged the president to pump the brakes. The country hadn’t even digested the stimulus approved weeks earlier. It didn’t make sense to throw another $2 trillion on top.

Biden was unmoved. “I’ve got to do it, Joe,” he said.

Manchin ultimately swallowed his reservations and gave his support. The package passed in March 2021.

The loudest criticism came from Larry Summers, who had been a top Obama adviser but wasn’t part of Biden’s team. Many Democrats faulted Summers for insufficient stimulus in 2009 and were in no mood to listen to him by 2021.

He pointed to how Democrats had lost badly at the ballot box during other bouts of inflation in 1968 and 1980. “The sense of serenity and complacency being projected by the economic policymakers, that this is all something that can easily be managed, is misplaced,” he said that spring.

Inflation jumped that April, driven by used cars, airfares and other items that could be traced to reopening the economy. Officials at the White House and Federal Reserve highlighted the temporary nature of price readings by describing high prices as likely to be “transitory.” And for the first few months, the story held. Price growth initially eased through the summer.

White House advisers kept telling Manchin not to worry. One pointed to how 17 Nobel laureates said inflation would be transitory. Manchin shot back: “You’ve got 17 educated idiots telling you what you want to hear.”

When price growth broadened and reaccelerated that fall, the Fed threw “transitory” into the ash heap and sped up plans to withdraw stimulus. By December 2021, inflation hit 7%.

Not making $400/Week? A lot of those people probably qualified for unemployment under the Stimulus Packages, but it was ridiculous that the you could make more from unemployment than you could make from working. Here in GA, the total benefit of the original $600/extra was nearly $1K/week, which was a solid standard of living.

Biden was pretty well stuck passing it. It was a key campaign promise, though by the time of passage, it didn't make as much sense with vaccines available.

thru sleight-of-hand, WSJ is trying to confuse its reader, intermingling 08-09 financial crisis with the global inflation that started in 2018

Obama admin's corrective steps that followed the 08-09 financial crisis, lifted the US economy out of the death bed, paving the way to steady economic growth, as well as > 70 consecutive month of positive job creation.

the seeds for global inflation were planted, in 2018, some 10 years after the financial crisis,
when the new POTUS Trump started the trade war, which created supply chain bottlenecks, making it more expensive for goods/service

Biden loaded trillions in deficit spending to keep the economy afloat boast the best economy evar, and Americans still voted him out.

That's enough of a shitshow for you to tuck tail under some bridge in denmark for you to troll from.

This thread is textbook in failed gaslighting for dumbass propagandists.

Biden loaded less debt into the economy than Trump did. I don't know why you keep repeating this braindead talking point.

The gas lighting in this thread was from you dipshits. MAGA morons crying about how awful Biden policies were only to do a 180 suddenly the minute trump won the election. Over the next 2 years trump will claim.credit for the manufacturing boom happening and his braindead supporters will worship him for it.

MAGATs are dumber than a bag of rocks

Is this true? I've seen it before but its like Repubs and Dems have completely different math and data that show polar opposite conclusions

Yes and it's not even close. If you even take out the covid spending by both Biden and trump it still shows trump added a significant amount more to the debt. If you include the covid spending then trumps share of debt even goes higher

Bidens landmark pieces of legislation were both paid for. The infrastructure bill and the Inflation reduction act which is super charging manufacturing in the USA was paid for by a corporate minimum tax.

These people are sincerely illiterate trolls
